Did u know?Folks say to me what do you mean by "no-dig"?Digging your soil regularly means baring its nutrients to the harsh sun to dry out;it means destroying its structure, where trillions of microorganisms & small souls take shelter, creating a balanced ecosystem that supports so much life. 🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🌍🪲🪱🦠

Did u know?Global warming makes me so nervous as a solitary bee Mum. My Hairy-Footed Flower Bees usually emerge Feb/March,coinciding with my Daphne flowering(food plant). This winter has been so mild,my Daphne is flowering already. So,I've decided to put the HFFB nesting bricks outside early🤞. 🌍🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🐝🪲

If first you don't succeed...
This isn’t a new video, but it is, I think, a timeless one.

Did u know? This year, let's all make our outside spaces less left - unnatural, sterile, controlled, barren places & more right - natural, verdant, chemical-free, filled with food, 1000's of flowers & 100's habitats for small souls. It's so much easier on your back too... 🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🌍🪲🐦‍⬛🐞🦊🦎🦡🦔🪱🪰🕷️

Did u know? Why not plant a tree this year? Apart from giving us the oxygen we breathe, providing us with shade in an increasingly hot world & sifting out noise & pollution, they also hold our precious soil together. Look how the roots of this tree hold the earth in its strong embrace. 🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🌳

Did u know? The petite delicacy of snowdrops belies how tough they are. They grow in the most challenging season(winter),pushing up through frozen ground or snow & providing essential & much needed food for early emerging pollinators. Provide food for wildlife, all year round in your gardens. 🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🌍🐝🪲

Did u know? February will be a busy time for awakening biodiversity in the wildlife garden. My Hairy-Footed Flower bees will be stirring & I'll need to get their old nesting bricks out from their overwintering spot in the summerhouse & put out the new bricks I've made, ready for fresh nests. 🌿🌱🇬🇧🇬🇧🌍🪲🐝

It’s Penguin Awareness Day which seems like a great excuse to post the greatest ever Wikipedia edit.

Did u know? Is this a clump of *ugly* grass from last season that needs chopping down to make room for new spring growth,or is this a valuable clump of vegetation, housing countless small souls during winter months, that will only be pruned when it's warm enough for its inhabitants to emerge? 🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🐦‍⬛🌍🪲

If Labour won’t nationalise water, their “big overhaul” is a con.

Sewage in our rivers. Bills going up. Profits protected.

Public services should be in public hands.

"Go natural, if you can"...
On the theme of feeding birds on natural foods in our gardens, here are Greenfinches foraging Field Maple seeds.
This tree has been attracting flocks of finches to the garden since last August.
Go natural if you can.

Did u know? We're taught as gardeners to always prune Clematis for maximum flowers. What about not pruning - leaving your Clematis to form a beautiful bushy clump? It might not have as many flowers, but it'll house countless birds & other small souls in the winter & beyond. Garden differently. 🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🌍🪲🐦‍⬛

Leave seed heads on the plants in your gardens & this is why...... Beautiful....
Now is the winter of our seed-content.
Disappointing to see another grey day this morning.
I was just about to open the door when I noticed there was a large no. of Goldfinches.
They were feeding on a wide variety of seed types - Chickweed (Stellaria media), Sycamore, Winter Savoury, to name a few.

Did u know? It's nice when you have the chance to get to know specific individual insects in your garden. Yesterday I checked in on the myriads of Seven-Spot Ladybirds overwintering on my fence. All still there & still cosied up,ready to emerge when the weather warms - sleep well, little ones. 🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🪲🌍🐞

Did u know?Nature suffers due to habitat loss, climate change, pesticide use & persecution. These are man-made issues,so surely,it's our duty to make our outside spaces as wildlife-friendly as poss by creating habitats, never using pesticides & providing food - plant Hellebores for pollinators.🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🌍🪲🐝
