It has become a Winter Solstice tradition for me to make a Yule log with my youngest granddaughter, Arrietty. Last year we decorated it with snowmen truffles, and this year we made a family of 10 chocolate marzipan hedgehogs!

It's ridiculous that the Government *still* haven't banned the sale of peat.

Peat bogs are still getting dug up and used for compost and in horticulture. Ministers say they'll ban it 'when time allows'.

Last week I conquered my long-time fear of watercolours.

This w/e (encouraged by the watercolour experience, & inspired by @michellehughes.bsky.social's fab online Linocutting course) I finally had a go at a #linocut!

Mine's the basic Christmas tree one, copied from a card I found online. Hooked!

This male Robberfly, Pegesimallus teratodes, has striking, feather-like scales on its hind legs, likely used for female attraction during courtship. (& cleaning the dance floor)
