Thank you for being here. I share nature, art, and glimpses into the wilds of imagination—shaped by chronic illness, sight and hearing loss. I may not always reply, but I read every word with gratitude. This is a space for stillness, wonder, and quiet connection. #CreativeResilience #NatureArt
Rainy November days can dampen the spirit, can’t they?
I’m missing Jack Frost and his spiky, sparkling ways, but until he returns, here are a few wild fairytale words to help lift the clouds.
Reading from Nature’s Advent Calendar on the fairy house doorstep, casting a little winter magic in the air.

At first light, I stepped into the fairy house and found that Jack Frost had been tapping on the windows overnight.
Perhaps he stopped by for news of our wild fairytale… he missed the fairies, so left his frosted messages shimmering across the panes.
A little winter magic for you.

The fairies kept me busy today — fluttering about as I wrapped more books to post away.
Feeling brighter on my new meds, and there’s no better prescription than nature, imagination and creativity, but I’m pacing myself, however excitable those fairies are!
Here are three little fairytale characters.

The fairies were fluttering in my studio today, as I wrapped more books to post away…
I’ve always wished this wild fairytale might find its way into Christmas stockings — hoping believing in fairies makes wishes come true!
Sharing the once-upon-a-time beginning:

‘A lantern in the storm’.
Some treasures from the meadow, to brighten your day… just in case you don’t feel like stepping out into the storm!

Discovered along the wild way today — a bright treasure to hold close to heart when winter nights feel a little too dark.

A hush in the studio…
But the door’s ajar to the wild.
Birdsong drifts in, chiming through the stillness.
Wildflowers rest in a tiny perfume vial.
A butterfly ship sets sail across the pages of a wild fairytale.
Even in quiet moments, something stirs.
A wild fairytale is on its way! #ColthOfNature

Before dawn, a tawny owl called through the darkness.
Later, walking to my studio, birdsong rose around me — sweet cadences of thrush, bright notes of blackcap, and perhaps a redwing’s wistful echo.
Even on the greyest days, there’s music.
And the owl calls at the edge of night.

A perfume vial labelled Daisy, filled with daisies.
A recycled lid cradling wild vetch in rainwater and vintage beads.
Late wildflowers, lit from within — defying the dark.
They rest beside me on my desk. When I lift my gaze, I rest my eyes on them, and in pausing my mind rests too. #Stillness

From Red Squirrel Riding Hood in Yorkshire…
to Red Umbrella Resilience outside UCLH.
Fatigued and fragile, yes — but also heard.
A constructive consultation.
A treatment plan. A little clarity to carry forward.
Grateful to @UCLH Infectious Diseases.
This is what good medicine feels like. #NeuroLyme

Every bit the weary traveller still — though I can’t entirely blame the journey home from Yorkshire.
Fatigue and I aren’t friends, just long-time companions.
But I’ve finished the squirrel movie!
A moment of stillness, rustle and joy.
Long-term illness shapes the rhythm of life… so does love.

So tired this evening, having been scampering about all day. But before I doze off on the sofa — a squirrely snack to share, for those with an appetite for something sweet.
An after-dinner treat!
Squirrel ~ the movie to follow tomorrow.

Stepping out into the wilds of Yorkshire again today, in search of copper, gold… and a healthy, rosy glow!
Yesterday, the rivers sparkled, the woodlands glowed ember-bright, and the sky blushed over the beauty of the world.

From the wild torrent of the Strid to the serenity of the River Nidd at Knaresborough, as the sun softly set on another beautiful Yorkshire day.

Strid Woods this afternoon — a gold rush of tumbling leaves, and the Strid itself rushing wild beside us.
I arrived tired but the river’s fierce energy gifted me a rush of my own.
There’s something ancient in its roar — something that clears the mind and stirs the soul. #AutumnEnergy #WildYorkshire

And here we are —
A leaf-strewn path unfurling through golden beechwood, like a birthday ribbon laid by the trees.
Yorkshire has welcomed us with golden canopies, soft grey skies, and quiet magic at every turn…

For #WildflowerHour:
Bright-eyed Green Alkanet, peeping out at me from the roadside verge today. Though often passed by, its flowers beckon, glinting like tiny sapphires — blooming well into autumn, and sometimes through winter too. A quiet companion at the edge of things, whispering resilience.

The door to the Fairy House stands open, leading out into Silver-wind Spinney. Time to step out and follow the leaf-laced paths, byways and highways that lead north.
We’re off on holiday to Yorkshire — for a few days of celebration, wildness and wonder.
There will also be birthday cake! #WildWander

For #Halloween.
A wonderfully globby goblin, clinging to a tree beside my studio… googly eyes, nose, even a mischievous glint! He looks as though he may wobble to life at any moment and mutter something mossy under his breath.
The bokeh behind lends a touch of magic, like lanterns in a goblin wood.

Even fairytales have mirrors — and moments of courage.
Sight-saving Eylea injections today.
Resting now, eyes sore but I’m grateful for the treatment.
Back to wings and wonder soon.
Thank you for the warmth and kindness — it helps light the way.
A little pause in our fairytale world today 🧚
Real-life pages are turning too.
Thank you for all the warmth after yesterday’s wild-fairytale news —
I’m holding your kind words close as I head to Southampton Hospital
for eye injections this afternoon.
So replies may be quiet for a bit. #FairytaleMe

The presses are rolling!
My first wild fairytale has gone to print.
Nature’s Advent Calendar – A Wild Fairytale will soon unfold.
Inspired by my Advent calendars, sharing nature’s treasures, it’s a tale of twenty-four small doors opening into nature’s quiet magic.
