Emissions, fossils fuels & deforestation are symptoms - not causes like overpopulation, cows & cars. That we discuss symptoms only is a feature and not a bug.

Mitigation & adaptation are the same:
- Birth control
- Plant based
- Local
- Low tech

UPDATE: The likelihood that humans will go extinct by 2100 is 80%.

"Under current trends, we hit 3°C within 25 years - meaning that avoiding extinction, not just collapse, would require population and consumption reduction beginning immediately, not post-2050"

#PSA: Vasectomies for men are significantly less expensive than sterilization procedures for women, typically costing 6 times less. A vasectomy is usually an in-office procedure costing around $1,000, while a tubal ligation for women is an invasive, hospital-based surgery often costing $8,500.

The patriarchy still rules. Racism still rules. Our society is based on classims and slavery. This is because we have speciesism as our foundation.

More men should speak up about why they don't want to breed selfies 🤳 There are enough Musk already. Both women and men have to speak up together.

If we feel good because our environment makes sense to our senses, we don't need coping & balancing mechanisms like #hope, #optimism or drugs. If we don't feel good, treating symptoms with hope can't work too long. We need to improve our environment.

Happiness = wishless & hopeless & painless

Optimism leads to breeding and consuming more, not less.

Hope and optimism are killing all life on Earth today.

Hope prevents honesty. Hope prevents living in the moment. A high a price when we may have only one life before death?

Putin didn't make the Ukraine better off. Hannibal Lecter is not a humanist. We confuse villains for heros? A lot of people do not see the aggressor in themselves? A lot of people do not see Hannibal Lecter in themselves?

Lyle is one of the few men who inspired me to discuss population openly. Otherwise it's been only women like:

Jane Goodall
Ingrid Newkirk
Phoebe Barnard
Nandita Bajaj
Sofia Pineda Ochoa
Alisha Graves
..

Why is #overpopulation discussed mainly by women, not by men? How can we change that?

We add 800m new humans net every 10 years and plan to grow by 1.7bn in 25 years. 9.5 by 2050. Every new person needs 1000-4000m2 of land for food.

Hunters kill the large & strong animals and weaken wildlife DNA. Logging in old growth forests goes for the oldest trees first. Pasture doesn't care.

The #Olympics for women (girls) were called the Heraean Games

"The short chiton she wears, exposing her right breast, and her loose hair, are distinctive characteristics of the competitors in the Heraean Games. Roman copy of a Greek original, from c. 460 BC"

Animal Ag uses 80% of all farm land but produces only 20% of calories. Mainly for richer people.

What if eating animals caused as much #climate change as fossil fuels and we still invested four times more into fHarming animals than growing plants?

One of may favorite quotes by #Darwin is:

Status: #genocidal
I’m not sure why anybody focuses on population reduction when emissions are in no way commencement with population, they are entirely commencement with wealth.

Unless you’re talking about reducing the number of billionaires, you’re just being genocidal

The term #adaptation gardening makes scientific sense as that's what natural selection is. But I feel it's much more than that. It's not a "reaction to change", it's what life is and how life works. Incest / inbred #Gardening is anti-life and anti-science. It can only weaken & destroy life on Earth.

"Plato argued that to philosophize is to learn to die. If that’s true, then we have entered humanity’s most philosophical age—or this is precisely the problem of the Anthropocene. The trouble now is that we must learn to die not as individuals, but as a civilization."

It's a bit rich to allow spraying antibiotics like glyphosate all over the land for another 10 years - then complain about resistance issues? 3 kg of antibiotics per ha is a lot and too much. We should ban all antibiotics use for food.

The FBI is investigating #ExtinctionRebellion

A former member of #XRNYC was visited by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force outside of New York City. This is not an isolated situation.
The administration has escalated to a new focus:
the climate movement.

This famous "Uncharted" paper speaks about 6 billion deaths by 2100 but it didn't assume 3°C by 2050. It was "more optimistic".

We have to break the taboo and model humans deaths and extinction likelihood.

What is #TunaTuesday?

Tuna is an apex predator of the oceans and eats cats of the sea. Feeding apex predators to house cats is one of the most insane things one can do. Why not feed them tigers? Keeping meat eating pets is also not very sane, now that we are in #overshoot.
