Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

Gary of Arabia
Ruin a movie by making it about Gary.
Typed world according to Garp and autocorrect wanted to type it as World According to Gary.

Whole other movie there.

Important bit of self-knowledge: I really enjoy playing chess when the other player is not particularly good at chess.

Great thread! I will absolutely adopt this as a descriptor.
(I used to write for a U2 fan site. I discovered I was pony famous after U2 played the Sphere. I struck up conversation with another woman who had been to the show, she asked my name, and legit squealed when I gave it. It was mind-blowing!)
So "pony famous" means you are really good at a narrow thing. It comes from the My Little Pony community. It means you are legit well known in a SUPER NARROW vertical.

You will think this means you are not allowed to say you are famous. To certain people though, you are. /2

A lesson we have learned from Ukraine is that Stephen Colbert will make an excellent President.
when i think of Colbert, i think of an interview he gave to GQ when he first took over The Late Show, and had this to say about losing his father and brothers in a plane crash. www.gq.com/story/stephe...

I reiterate: If Trump can turn his show being cancelled into a Presidential run, so can Colbert.

Having a Tolkien nerd as POTUS would certainly get us a better grade of judicial appointments...

This is a good time to watch, or revisit, Stephen Colbert being interviewed by the chaplain of the Colbert Nation, Fr. Jim Martin. There's so much power in the perspective he offers of trying to see things "in the light of eternity."
Delighted to share the latest episode of "The Spiritual Life," with our guest Stephen Colbert. It's an open, honest, inspiring (and funny) conversation about his spiritual life, which touches on the loss of his father and two brothers at an early age, his... www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p9H...

I am a big fan of Molly Jong-Fast, but I think she misses the mark in this piece. The fight against fascism takes many people doing many types of work. Colbert's part has been to create a space to laugh at the absurdity. That's important, because you can't laugh and be afraid at the same time.

Time to share again my all time favorite Colbert monologue, a couple of days after the 2016 election, featuring Jon Batiste summing up how all of us were feeling. youtu.be/YJDD9WCxYQI?...

yeah okay let’s talk him into running for President
I've spent a lot of time thinking about this fascinating exchange Colbert had with Dua Lipa, when she asked him about the role his faith plays in his comedy.

CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery.

America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.

Watch and share his message.

This is a good point. I'd consider voting Colbert.
The best part about a Colbert presidency is that he would absolutely revoke all contracts to Anduril, Palantir, etc purely out of disgust at their misappropriation of Tolkien.
