People really should talk more about how consistently dishonest Johnson is. He bears false witness constantly.
This is performative BS, as the Senate has no obligation to take it up. The leverage was to strip this bill in the underlying text last night at rules but Republicans refused to do so. Johnson is trying to do some CYA but he isn't fooling anyone.

spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

There are quite a few who consider it rude to mention someone's antisemitism if they support Netanyahu.
"Trump himself may not be an antisemite, even as he harbors some antisemitic notions (e.g., Jews are money-grubbing) and regularly repeats some antisemitic tropes (e.g., Jews hold dual loyalties), but he has been a font of hatred writ large, and a facilitator of vicious antisemites." 👇👇👇
As the right wing continues to convulse over antisemitism following Tucker Carlson's interview w/ Nick Fuentes, there's one name that is conspicuously unmentioned: Donald Trump.

This is a straightforward lie from @govpritzker.illinois.gov @jbpritzker.bsky.social, and confirmation that all of his tough talk is empty posturing. He's not standing up for anyone; he's hoping to trick presidential primary voters.

It's long past time to call him out for what he is.
“This is my ward! This is my ward!” Rodriguez (22nd) chirps back as Sigcho-Lopez (25th) grills Gov., saying, “the State Police are arresting protesters.”

“They’re protecting our protesters,” Gov. JB Pritzker responds.

Senate Dems are quiet because Schumer controls a lot of campaign money, and none of them want to see a well-funded primary challenger. They all need to be persuaded that failing to remove him as Minority Leader is the bigger risk to their careers.
November 11, 2025 at 1:41 AM
"Getting back to fighting united" implies that the Senate Dem leadership and caucus were fighting and not surrendering, which is obviously not true.

Whitehouse is asking voters to "get past internal recriminations" so that he and his friends can go back to surrendering without facing their anger.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Duverger's law is a real thing.

A presidential system with single seat constituencies and FPTP voting can't sustain more than two parties. It's never happened, anywhere in the world. Occasionally a third party will emerge, but it will immediately either fail or replace one of the other two.
at this point it feels more achievable to build something new rather than try to fundamentally change the democratic party

Another liar.
Senate Dems just gave up fighting for better healthcare. If the deal makes it through the House, the Dems will have given up every ounce of leverage they have on the issue.
The only hope Senate Dems have of holding on to any credibility is to replace @schumer.senate.gov immediately.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting
November 10, 2025 at 3:46 AM
Absolutely this.

My guess is that the best next step would be for @ezralevin.bsky.social and @leahgreenberg.bsky.social to launch a national campaign via @indivisible.org to make this happen.

And another liar.
Hassan: My vote was to do two things: 1) Make sure the government is functioning… 2) continue the fight to a realistic platform to get the premium tax cuts done. If that is not successful, then shame on the Republican Party and shame on Donald Trump.
November 10, 2025 at 2:46 AM
Another liar.
Health care isn’t negotiable.

We need to both reopen the government and work together to protect access to affordable health care by extending the ACA enhanced premium tax credits.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)
November 10, 2025 at 2:11 AM
So, @kaine.senate.gov is just lying here. The deal absolutely does not guarantee a vote. If there is a Senate vote it almost certainly won't pass. If it did Johnson would almost certainly never allow a House vote. Kaine knows all of this, but hopes his constituents won't realize that he's lying.
My statement on the funding deal to reopen government, protect federal employees, and vote to protect health care:

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.
November 10, 2025 at 1:36 AM
Schumer won't be up until the 2028 election, and I suspect he'll be facing @aoc.bsky.social then.

In the meantime, though, we can start demanding that senators commit to vote against him as Dem Senate Leader at the beginning of the next congress in 2027.
I will door knock every block in NYC if I have to in order to primary Chuck Schumer.

PAGING BRAD LANDER.

I'd make an adjustment to this. If you like an individual Dem senator or candidate, feel free to donate directly to them.
But nothing to the DSCC or the DNC as long as Schumer is caucus leader. Nothing to Schumer or any of the cavers. Nothing to PACs of any sort.
So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader
Call them:

If so, it could set up the funniest possible outcome: the spineless wing of the Senate Dem caucus takes the heat for caving while the House GOP kills the deal and maintains the shutdown.
OK the RIF stuff in the minibus is actually a big deal.
November 10, 2025 at 12:21 AM
A side issue at most, I know, but this really hammers home how much it sucks to be a DC (or Puerto Rico) resident that both parties feel free to completely ignore. I'd love to have some senators to call right now.
Following up on this. This remains a ‘cave is minutes or hours away’ situation. If you want to impact how this plays out you need to contact senators literally now. I want to add additional points of context. What I’m relaying is what I’ve picked up from highly reliable sources.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.
