If you don't do alcohol, what do peeps usually use for wine jn recipes?
I sub in pomegranate or blood orange juice for red usually but not sure what to sub in for white. (I just skip or use broth so far but curious what might work better...)

new year means please remember to be like nice and normal about fat people, the fat person you are or could become, the fat person you could fall in love with or friends you could have. fatness is not a corrupting force, fatphobia is. the performance is unhealthy, weight loss is social is political

that clip of Bush takes me on a roller coaster. I do miss when there were public consequences to not at least PRETENDING women were people, but I'm also not planning to return to the good grammar of civility

I say this often but it bears repeating: if you make your money from creating art then you NEED to find an art or craft where you just do it for fun and don't try to be perfect or make any money from it, and when anyone tells you to monetise it you say 'No', because otherwise your soul will die.

"What a year for the ultra wealthy. The world’s 500 richest people added a record $2.2 trillion to their collective fortunes in 2025’s… booming markets, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. And about a quarter of this year’s gains went to just eight billionaires.” — Bloomberg Morning Brief

Two people buried at two different sites in England in the 7th century CE have been shown to have West African ancestry, probably a paternal grandfather in both cases.

Remember this if someone says that a historical novel set in the UK is "unrealistic" because it includes characters of color.
West African Roots Found in Seventh-Century England, DNA Studies Shows - Medievalists.net

giving a bunch of racist, misogynist, actual nazis a button to virtually strip any person is just a depravity it is hard to fucking fathom.

also I've crossed a fucking rubicon on AI tonight. If the cost of it is creating revenge porn of children and murder/suicides, WHAT IS FUCKING WORTH THAT.

One of my other goals for 2026 is cooking through our family recipe books. Im lucky my mom compiled two cookbooks, one of all the family and friend favs she regularly makes, and on with all the random scribbled down or news cutout recipes from her mother's side of the fam.

The Deed of Paksenarrion.

Getting sworn in on the saga of a paladin seems good to me 😊
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

This MIT study shows that using generative AI resulted in brain damage:

"While LLMs offer immediate convenience, our findings highlight potential cognitive costs. Over four months, LLM users consistently underperformed at neural, linguistic, and behavioral levels."

Do you realize society conditioned us as artists to hate our own work so it can justify devaluing our work and make us charge lower prices?

You literally created a little guy out of the thoughts in your brain with paper and a pen. No more self hating artist era. This is self loving artist era.

This is a good and correct opinion.
My most extreme and radical opinion is that US suburbs are inherently anti-social and bad and should all be ripped out and replaced by much denser infrastructure that enables the movement and autonomy of people who cannot drive *above* anyone behind the wheel of a car

One of the things I credit my 20 year relationship success with is that we share the same values.

Ultimately that's what politics is. What do you value?
Good.

Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.

Los Angeles used to have the most extensive street rail network in the world 🫠
To be fair to myself, while my opinion is radical, checking out the rhetoric of the policymakers who enabled this more or less confirms that US suburbs were explicitly formed to increase anti-social behavior and foster both racial segregation and individualist capitalism
