i was gonna come on here and vent about another of the Reykjavík bus systems many screw-ups but the bottom line is this company is clearly run by people who actively hate the bus and the people who use it. if i ever run for office again my first order on the agenda will be its total nationalisation

No, actually. We already are living with each other, including them. They're uncomfortable with some of us. THEY have to learn to live with US. If they won't, that is their problem.

yes that's how writing works. it's a death race where the goal is to churn out more books than anyone else. the more books you churn the more writerish you are and you get a big shiny trophy that says Winning Writer on it
The whole article is repulsive but this passage is at the core of it. She has no interest in writing books, she wants to win some kind of competition that nobody entered

It's crazy to churn out 200 books a year with A.I. Why should anyone want to read a book that you couldn't even be bothered to write?
There are so many great books that were lovingly written and rewritten and then rewritten again by people and so little time to read them all. Just ... why do this?

I don't see how self-publishing world survives GenAI. It's going to be an absurd increase in slop books with no reason to expect any increase in paying readers.
