We'll be told "there are millions of people who are uncomfortable with that, and we have to learn to live with them."

No, actually. We already are living with each other, including them. They're uncomfortable with some of us. THEY have to learn to live with US. If they won't, that is their problem.

yes that's how writing works. it's a death race where the goal is to churn out more books than anyone else. the more books you churn the more writerish you are and you get a big shiny trophy that says Winning Writer on it
The whole article is repulsive but this passage is at the core of it. She has no interest in writing books, she wants to win some kind of competition that nobody entered

It's crazy to churn out 200 books a year with A.I. Why should anyone want to read a book that you couldn't even be bothered to write?

There are so many great books that were lovingly written and rewritten and then rewritten again by people and so little time to read them all. Just ... why do this?
I don't see how self-publishing world survives GenAI. It's going to be an absurd increase in slop books with no reason to expect any increase in paying readers.

So. Abolish ICE is the message that won this primary and Rep Grijalva won on the Epstein Files discharge vote. All the proof you need that the Senate Dems who fold on anything but abolish are not representing the voters. Pretty clear message here.
INBOX: the Democratic National Committee is forced to delete a premature congratulatory message to former Rep. Tom Malinowski in the #NJ11 special election primary to succeed Gov. Mikie Sherrill this morning.

DSA member Analilia Mejia, running on abolishing ICE, took the lead late last night.

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

It's not just fine but amazing to make amateur art. Humans are artmakers. You don't have to be professionalized as an artist, you don't have to make art of professional merit. Just create!

love this thing where you see a perfectly spot-on take about current events and then notice it's from like a century ago, that totally rocks
The Liberals have been accustomed to console themselves with constitutional illusions and phrases about the rule of law, and close their eyes to the real relation of forces, to the class struggle.

So on Friday, I sued State's Attorney Burke - not for money, but for justice. Since she is unwilling or unable to prosecute people who terrorized Chicagoans for weeks, I am requesting the appointment of a Special Prosecutor who will. That is the only relief I am requesting. (Cont.)

Arresting Black journalists is also vice signaling. Their base is racist and hates journalists and they want to get them excited again. The mainstream media industry has never protected Black journalists or journalists of color the way it should.

I think it’s worth keeping in mind that the specific church that was protested, inspiring these outrageous constitutional violations by DOJ, is part of the network of Christian Nationalist churches tied to Doug Wilson and attended by Pete Hegseth.
The fact that *both* of the churches that have made news in Minneapolis for pro-ICE links/positions have ties to the Doug Wilson-verse (which, for those keeping track, is who oversees the church Sec. Pete Hegseth now attends) feels like evidence that the universe's writers are just getting lazy.
Via @bmietana.bsky.social: Cities Church in Minnesota is considering legal options after anti-ICE protest.

A surprising detail in here: Joe Rigney, author of the book "Sin of Empathy," is calling himself a founding pastor of this church. religionnews.com/2026/01/20/c...
