Came across a story about Georg Duckwitz and needed to share. He’s not very well known, but what he did in Denmark during World War II helped save thousands of Jewish lives!

Let's talk about generative AI, contaminated information, and rhubarb.

Once upon a time, Europe was at war.

Food was scarce, and the government of the quote-unquote United Kingdom looked for alternatives. 1/

I sleep very lightly and having a 13 yr old dog with mobility issues makes me very prone to waking up to puppy noises. Last night the 13 yo woke me up crying quietly. I jumped up to discover... his bed was static shocking him. His Einstein hair was lighting up everytime he moved.

The sun is rising on a new year in New England. It snowed overnight and the sun is rising over a quiet snow white city. I'm allowing this to be a good omen for 2026 washing away the negatives of 2025. We move forward, the only way out is through.

Flu numbers are high in most states and almost all cases are variants of H3N2 and the vaccine includes H3N2

Get your flu vax if you haven’t already! Even if you still get the flu, the symptoms will be easier to manage if you get vaccinated!

Wow. @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social, advocates with infection-associated chronic conditions have been reaching out to you and your staff for years, under the impression you'd share your trademark compassionate curiosity with the public on the matter.

I'm disappointed in you.

I got a new snow shovel this week and I'll get to use it for the first time today. You know you're old when you're excited for a new snow shovel.

It's a metal snow shovel. I try to buy as little plastic as possible, and that was a surprising challenge.

Good piece on rest! @exceedhergrasp1.bsky.social quoted extensively.

When I was dxed with #MECFS the dr said, “you need to rest.” And the gamechanger: “audiobooks are not rest” — I still think about that statement when I need to check in with myself about whether I’m actually resting.
What Does It Mean to Really, Truly Rest?
And when are we just swathing toxic productivity in soft pants and a robe?

This year, many people resigned their posts at the slightest hint that the Trump regime was displeased with them instead of staying and making someone fire them.

Sharyn Alfonsi is showing us why you stay and refuse: you make clear your superiors are wrong and may them pay the costs of firing you.
Again, from Michael Grynbaum, here is Sharyn Alfonsi's full email.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.
