This is actually good spin, or would have been. But the fact that the Democratic cave happened without even a coordinated, agreed-upon message like this indicates the depth of the leadership void.

This post is apparently quite popular! I keep seeing it in my timeline boosted by others. What gets me about it is that none of the individual events chronicled are news, if you've been paying attention. Why is this summary by not-a-journalist suddenly newsworthy? 🧵...
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.
He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

a new genre of photo in the last year is federal agents working for ICE pointing guns directly at photographers

Solution: safety whistles! The ones people are distributing to warn communities about ICE raids. Hand them out liberally.
If a tactical cosplayer shows up, surround them and make a racket too painful for them to ignore.

To sum up this thread, given recent events in the Chicagoland area due to ICE activity, for the safety of all attendees, especially international attendees, I am calling on @furfest.org to ban tactical gear & modern police/military costumes from the con space
That is the least I can ask from MFF

Furries, we need to talk about something very important. With Midwest FurFest just a month away, we need to address the elephant in the room
For the past few months, ICE, Border Patrol, & other federal agents have been storming throughout the Chicago area, where MFF is located (1/5)

Schumer would sell his soul to the devil for a box of Cheezits and a promise that Satan will totally think about torturing him less.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis
For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare
We will keep fighting

Update! This flight is also cancelled, flying home tomorrow.
The Dems better hold the fucking line and make it worth it. They cave now and I’m gonna be extra pissed.

And my flight home has been reshuffled to tonight due to the reduced schedule. At least I got the notice before I got to the airport.
Home at almost 11pm instead of 3pm. At least @lasrina.bsky.social is gracious about hosting me for a few more hours.

There is an application problem. I've heard folks in HR say that 60% of the applications they receive are AI slop and there is an epidemic of people using AI to get jobs they aren't qualified for.
On the other side there are companies that post job openings just to look like they are hiring.

Nice of the WAPO to finally notice something that has been happening for five years or more now, but it has less to do with a weak labor market or a flood of applications.
It has to do with them not actually giving a shit about job seekers, job havers, or really anyone except their shareholders.

The labor market is weakening and employers are swamped by applications. But that’s no excuse to freeze out job seekers.
