Accountability post: I got angry about figure skating judging which means I have to go to practice ice on Sunday and work on either crossovers or a spin.

Oh I am SO not about that ice dance result, I’m actually quite furious.

Love to see the ISU reward abusers and sexual assault apologists/deniers!

Never undervalue the expertise your hobbies and passions give you, because it will always end up useful in surprising ways.

Example: I cannot tell you how useful it is to have a “video game person“ in pretty much every newsroom or on a publication’s staff. It always comes up!

Like 75% of the US Olympic curlers are from Minnesota. A lot of them curl out of two clubs in Saint Paul, one club is in Frogtown, a neighborhood that has been very heavily targeted by ICE. These curlers are good neighbors.
US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

Played myself by checking in on men’s short program during lunch only to get hit with the emotional whiplash of Minions program into Max Naumov talking about his parents and students.

They’re in second place by less than a point right now after the rhythm dance and I’m blaming it on the podium because I’m STRESSED (and don’t like the French team).
Oooh looks like Team Japan filed a formal complaint about the podiums so they DID also get affected.

Also looks like Chock and Bates didn’t get their skates resharpened but instead had them buffed to address the damage to avoid fresh blade issues. I am SO tense for them, goodness.
February 9, 2026 at 9:58 PM
This is a wild oversight for them to make. You know how you see skaters immediately put something on their skates when leaving the rink after a program? That’s to protect their VERY expensive and damageable blades. Stepping/standing on a mat isn’t the worst but even that is usually avoided.

so Shun Sato got WILDLY unscored—I don’t think he should’ve broken 200, so no medal change, but he deserved higher because that skate was PRISTINE.

But: I am SO glad Amber won’t feel like she cost the team gold, AND I hope Danny and Ellie feel amazing knowing they helped save it.

Amber Glenn got a slew of death threats in the past 24 hours because of speaking out against hate, so I’m gonna give her a LOT of grace re: nerves and being in her own head.

Also Kaori Sakamoto is just absolutely stunning and delightful, it’s hard not to cheer for her.

I truly hope Amber Glenn is teaching the rest of the Olympic Village how to play MtG. Because I think she WOULD.

Crying over pairs skating because Danny O’Shea and Ellie Kam knew going in they had the most to prove about why they deserved to be there and THEY DID.

If you want to watch Olympic skating, this is your alert that the men’s short program for the team event is about to start!

Mariah Carey really demonstrates that just because you CAN hit a note doesn’t mean you SHOULD.

Me skating: Wow, I’m just gliding, just goin’ along, wild that this is exercise.

Me moving after skating: WHAT DID I DO TO MAKE MY THIGHS AND ABS HATE ME??

To truly know Judaism you have to understand that the origins of many our laws are absolutely fucking hilarious.
Dear Synagogue staff: I’m sure you’re all hard at work planning your Purim parties, but if it’s not this wild then I’m not going

Reminded that “sexy primes” is in fact a real mathematical term today and… who permitted that term, I just wanna talk, I KNOW you know what you did.

On my dad’s side, if you go back far enough, the Mayflower.

On mom’s, that Jewish classic: fleeing pogroms.

(I like knowing dad’s ancestors would be PISSED about me.)
Genuinely curious: If your family is American, what brought them here?

It’s hard to focus on one thing to be appalled about, but these stories out of Minnesota are awful. (And, of course, on the other hand, very encouraging.) I cannot believe you can wrongly grab somebody, transport them, and then leave them where YOU took them.
From FB regarding Pizza Luce in Minnesota.

I like it when I can do something to help people displaced by ICE and then after I do that thing I get to eat a pizza.

THIS! We’re talking about Liam because he was in the news and we know enough to be able to talk about him, but we also hope to use his story to help raise awareness of all 3800+ kids who have been detained by ICE during this presidential administration. They all deserve love, care, and liberty.
I think important to state for the record that Liam Ramos is a kiddo who is both a person and representative of every other kiddo who is at risk/detained no matter how old they are or how cute or small or "innocent" bc like some kids get into trouble. I got into trouble. we stand up for them all

Liam was taken from Columbia Heights, the town just south of my high school in Fridley and just north of the Arts district in NE Minneapolis. I spent a lot of time with friends there after extracurriculars. News of his abduction completely broke my heart. I’m glad he’s home. #Comics4Liam

As Greg has said here, the store's site has crashed from the traffic/flood of orders. But a GofundMe is still live to help with the store's renovation.
