I'm hard-pressed to think of a non-Jewish Democratic politician who has spoken to Jews with more respect and empathy than Mamdani. The fact that many Jewish establishment orgs are going after him while staying relatively mum on resurgent Nazism is a disaster, both for American Jews and in general.

This is messed up. The Teen Vogue politics section was doing the best coverage of American politics of any major journalism outlet. So much better than the likes of NYT, WaPo.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I feel like the fact people are so excited when he does stuff like this really shows how low the bar is to get people excited about a politician. Just fucking show up in your communities, not just for the fun stuff like this, but also to have hard conversations with people who disagree with you!

when the third term thing inevitably comes before the Supreme Court, they could just publish this piece as the unanimous opinion, if they were actually calling balls and strikes and devoted to enforcing the original intent of the Constitution’s text.

unfortunately a big if.
this week's newsletter has a bunch of quotes from the drafters and supporters of the 22nd amendment that make it extremely clear that there is no loophole you can use to circumvent it. (gift link)

The municipal bond market helps fund public infrastructure. But it also funnels public money into the coffers of the city’s ruling class industry. This is something Mamdani’s administration will have to reckon with should they win next week.

Should Zohran Mamdani become the next mayor of New York City, he will be restricted by the municipal bond market.

Starting this year, landlords of formerly unregulated buildings could raise rents by only half of the inflation rate that exceeds 3%.

For instance, if inflation is at 6%, they may raise rents by only 4.5%.

Beginning in 2028, this rule will apply across the board.

I use Claude (an AI) to scan my posts for spelling and grammar errors. On the most recent post (about the East Wing, link below), I got a really amazing addendum.

I’m increasingly seeing “different opinions” & similar language used by immoral people to trivialize their indecency, as though supporting fascism were a matter of personal taste, or equivalent to disagreeing about tax rates & charter schools.
One problem with the framing "being friends with/dating someone with different opinions" is that it's impossible to be friends with or date someone with *the same* opinions.

People are different from one another.

Some opinions matter more than others.
