Theft and environmental destruction aside, the fact that AI in general exists solely as an opt-out ecosystem pisses me off the most. It persists mostly because it's so FUCKING inconvenient to dodge.

when I was starting out, (pre-internet) I asked another artist a question about buying the chemicals to make a blue line (again, very long time ago) & they said they weren't going to tell me because I was competition & that's when I decided I'd never be a dick like that to another artist
Cartoonists getting mad over the 'what brush do you use?' question baffles me (and I have absolutely seen them in uproar over it, ye gods 🙄). Someone wants to know about your tools! don't you like talking about the tools you use to make comics? I know I do! Ask me about my brush!!!
A surefire way to make comics readership shrink away is to make casual readers feel stupid & embarrassed for making basic comments or asking basic questions. That’s why I cringe when artists get loudly defensive about stuff like “this reminds me of Steven Universe!” or even “what brushes do you use”
