Semiannual reminder that if the holidays are reminding you that you want to help your neighbors, pick a day and put it on your calendar. My homeless friends have told me that they could eat 30 free meals on Thanksgiving if they wanted to, but mid- February or March it all dries up!

Listen to the corporate centrists. They do not care about people. Their only priority is protecting the capitalist machine that feeds them.

They’ll sacrifice anyone, normalize fascism, do anything if it means the checks keep coming in.

So there's a lot of hooplah about this whole "welcoming into the tent" business that's been occasioned by Marjorie the Gathering's Damascene conversion.

Point blank, if you're not being very specific about what you *mean* by any of this stuff, it's an absurd and pointless debate.

People like that, whether we like it or not, made up the 1.5% margin of victory for Trump.

When it comes to the MTGs of the world, "how can we politically exploit the divisions they're creating in the GOP?" is a useful question.

They're trying to claim all of MAGA for the Nazis and it won't work (the evangelicals need Israel for their End Days vision, the Nazis won't accommodate that).

It will implode the coalition totally

But also?

An emerging hardcore Nazi axis within mainstream US politics? NOT GOOD

I really think we are seeing an MTG/Funetes/Carlson alliance forming.

I love what that spells for MAGA right now, and also I have deep misgivings for what that is going to mean in the longer term
@atrupar.com need to post this one here too

MTG isn't rebranding as a moderate, she's circling the wagons w Massie in the America First / Fuentes fash camp. There's some populist overlap w the left there, which fools some Liberals into misreading the coding. But she hasn't changed.

Her core is protectionist xenophobia & antisemitism.
She’s definitely on a rebrand tour. And she’s rebranding herself as more moderate which tells me she has grand ambitions

Today!
Some news: tomorrow at 9am, Ted Koppel + CBS Sunday Morning will air a two-part story on the devastating surge of full-time workers being pushed into homelessness.

I'll be interviewed along with two families from There Is No Place for Us. It would mean a lot if you'd watch and help spread the word.

Many queer people were also denied restitution after the war because they were not considered victims of fascism - as only those targeted based on racial, political or religious grounds were considered.

When the US liberated Nazi concentration camps, many queer people stayed in prison because they were seen as having broken the law. Indeed, Paragraph 175, which criminalized gay intercourse in Weimar Germany & had been expanded to include intent by the Nazis, was not abolished by the US after WWII.

It goes to show - Queerness disrupts the heteronormative, reproductive logic that underlies both fascism and liberalism. Even when fascism falls, liberal institutions still move to normalize the intensified persecution of queer people, because the same foundational assumptions remain untouched.

maybe i’m naive but i think it’s kinda doomerism to always be saying this is gonna take decades to undo or you’ll be old or dead when it ends. first it doesn’t matter, plant trees you won’t live to sit in the shade of. second great change is capable of happening very quickly

I have thought about this a lot. If you can find community based on the most repulsive part of yourself and also face exile from that community if you fix it, that’s what many psychologists would call “not good “
truly one of the skeleton keys for our modern age.
