Time to get the corona out again this morning for the kefir-spelt rolls (72 hr cold proofing).

If students don’t know about different schools in linguistics, how are they to discriminate between them? I also teach syntax, so for me it’s central that they know where people are coming from.

I think it’s important to remember how (part of) the field (linguistics) went down a dead-end road and refused to acknowledge this. It’s been in this spirit that I’ve been teaching generative linguistics.

What we’ve got to lose by that: the narrative showing how a paradigm tried to dominate the field. I teach ‘formal’ approaches in my methods and theories class precisely to situate it in that narrative, first quotations from his early work.

George Carlin always nailed it.

We have the same thing. Didn’t know you could also use it to slice.

The one on the left is looking kinda angry, though.

At my end, too (mostly to keep sane).
Liked the cardamom knots and today’s citrus&almond cake’s wicked smile.

Queen of brunch, judging by this feast!!!

Things will be ok in the end!!!

My citrus and almond cake decided it wanted put on a scary face. Won’t protect it from being devoured at breakfast tomorrow. Nice try, no cigar!

The fruit look picture-pretty. How do you cut apples like that?

The remainder of the marzipan worked beautifully in these baked apples (with cranberries, cinnamon and the fleshy bits from the orange that went into the cake).

Faces in things: the ghost of 🎃? B. Ebuehi’s citrus and almond cake

More therapeutic baking. (In an oven I’m not really familiar with).

We’re baking bread this morning. Radio playing. We’re chatting. Normal Sunday morning stuff.

Offspring1 (who wants to be referred to as “mysterious creature”) just did this.

Never been as proud as a parent👊🏻

Anti-anxiety baking… but we’re only two in the household…
This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.
