Between Keele and Yonge, the new Line 5 Eglinton is somehow slower than the Bloor subway even though it makes fewer stops and is entirely underground.

11 Minutes from Yonge to Dufferin (Fairbank). Comparable to the Bloor subway. 👍🏻

Right now, Mount Pleasant is the only stop between Yonge and Bayview (1.8 km). If it were above ground, I can imagine them putting in 4 stops. I prefer the longer stop spacing (and I say that as someone who lives midway between Yonge/Mount Pleasant) but it generally hasn't been the TTC's preference.

For the last 15 year my mom (wynford and eglinton) and I (bloor and Ossington) have been plotting to meet at Yonge and Eg for brunch via the LRT running past her house. TODAY WAS THAT DAY. Brunch was had, light rails were ridden. Flawless execution by all parties. #line5 #ttc #brunchinfrastructure

We’ll meet you at Yonge and eg food court at 12:00pm?

The only thing I can think of that comes close is this portion of the Yonge corridor north of the 401, even though the mass transit component is an u/g subway and all three arterials are two-way, high-traffic throughfares.

(BTW, it would be interesting to know which one inspired the other, if any)

That could just be a longer dwell at Eglinton-Yonge and maybe the crossovers between there and Avenue.

The Mandarin @ Birchmount 😂 (I only learned it existed today because I was curious what my closest option is now that the one at Yonge closed)
Real suggestion: uhhhhh Carribean food in little Jamaica?? I have never been. This is not helpful.

I recall one at Yonge and Carlton when I moved here in ‘97. That disappeared around the same time. Another near Dundas and Jarvis disappeared several years ago.

Kind of emotional about it because I lived at Yonge & Eg and suffered all the construction noise/dust from the station + surrounding TOD development and moved out 2020 right before we thought it was going to open but now I’m glad everyone had to suffer an extra 6 years without me😍😍😍

Hee yeah I remember being excited about the crosstown when I moved to the city living down at yonge-st clair in 2013, and now I live up at Lawrence so I've just swapped sides of midtown.

Don't know when I'll ride it somewhere but happy it finally exists 😊

I just saw that! (Reduced hours tho 🥲)

Might be worth riding to get to my salon appointments though on the yonge line!

Our office used to be in Midtown (Yonge & Eg). For the 6 years we had the office there, there was a giant pit in Eglinton, right in front of our office. If you ever had to drive in there for any reason, may god have mercy on your soul.

Elementary Teachers of Toronto are holding a protest at TDSB headquarters on Tuesday, Feb 2 at 4:30pm.

It's at 5050 Yonge St, which is a five walk south from North York Centre subway stop.

Parents, we better partner up with teachers. We have a common enemy.

No, it already has plenty of stops, at least as often as Line 2 has if not more often.
Honestly nice to see Metrolinx get more sparing with stop placement on Ontario Line, Eglinton West, and Yonge North.

When Timothy Eaton opened a small store on Yonge Street in Toronto, it was the beginning of one of the most important companies in Canadian history.
But who was the man behind the company?
This is the story of Timothy Eaton.
