This is awesome but its also the wards that need it the least. I'd be thrilled to see a store open on my street.

But the suburban wards where folks have to drive to pick up milk and eggs are the ones who actually need this! The arguments against have been so detached from reality.
Mayor Olivia Chow's motion to allow neighbourhood corner stores in all wards in the Old Toronto & East York Community Council area CARRIES 25-1.

Not a fan of yet another "suburbs get to opt-out of growing up" plan.
As with six-plexes, it's rule by fiat of ward councillors.

Part-time councillor really makes it seem like the kind of gig only meant for white collar professionals who can take (and afford) a sabbatical.
Or business owners who can farm off daily management while still cashing pay-cheques.
In general, it seems silly for cities with 100k+ populations to have part time councillors. Shrink the councils if you need to, but part time councils in medium sized cities seem built to privilege representation from dual income, upper middle class households who can make this work.

For only two round trips a day, they've really maximized utility for Kit->Tor trips.
The "daytime shopping/eventing" trip (9-4)
The "evening party" trip (5-11pm)
The "whole dang day" trip (9am-11pm)

The irony here, is that the "fastest trip today" should be more like 30 minutes, but the Eglinton Crosstown refuses to open.
Did you know that when Mount Dennis GO opens this Sunday. It'll be 3x faster to get to Union Station than it currently takes. The fastest trips today take around 45 minutes, on Sunday it'll take just 13 minutes. This is the power of regional rail.

It’s really disappointing that there are only two weekend train round trips beyond Mount Pleasant; I don’t see why there cannot be a few more trips, especially for those going to Kitchener-Waterloo from Toronto, or between KW and Guelph.

Kitchener GO Train weekend schedule! (Sat & Sun)
7:49 Kitchener -> Union 9:35
15:49 Kitchener -> Union 17:35
16:48 Union -> Kitchener 18:38

Great (if minimal) start for daytrips into Toronto.
I hope no one in Toronto was planning daytrips to Kitchener.

They also say nobody in Canada will ride a bike or use a bike lane in winter. Many liars.
This is the Canadian Premier League soccer finals and we have a bicycle kick goal in the middle of a blizzard … and that’s the most Canadian thing I’ve ever seen 😂

I haven't seen that security question option before...
But it's funny to see it pop up only now, given the ever increasing number of adults who would have no answer.

“no one rides in the winter”

Canadians:
Good morning to the person who passed me on a winterized unicycle (?!) as I was walking to the LRT this morning.

Just noticed that the Budget calls for Canada to join Eurovision. Like we are never going to get the points, guys. Unless we join the Eastern European block.
