Home for St Bride’s, for Candlemas, for the last of the snowdrops and the first of the daffodils and primroses.

Early or what? This from Kent today. A few primroses too, but the internet assures me that's not so unusual.

Happy February everyone!

Primroses are one of the birth flowers of February and it won’t be too long until they start making an appearance, these ones are from last spring. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone 🥰☀️🍃

The gentle start to the knowing of a coming spring.

🧵This morning we lit an a Imbolc candle in the Earth to welcome in spring Today is the calendar day for Imbolc, tomorrow is Candlemas
17th Feb is lunar Imbolc For me it is a period of time when we sense the earth waking, the light changes, the birds sing, the first shoots of primroses and daffodils

Yes, I certainly celebrate Imbolc - in fact, for me, it is the most important festival in the "wheel of the year". No stress, light returns, birdsong, snowdrops, the first primroses. Evening meal lit by candles. Happy Imbolc Nancy x

I’m so pleased we had a nice day at last and I was able to get out in my garden today. I’m redoing my beds and can’t afford to buy plants so I’m growing from seed. I potted on some perennial seedlings in the greenhouse:

Oh, I forgot to post this pic from a few days ago - the wild primroses are blooming 🙂

Rescued some dried up primroses from the supermarket and glad to see some colour. The spring bulbs hopefully won't be long now here in middle England #plants #flowers 🌿🌸

This solitary Cyclamen is always the first ground colour along the canal, well ahead of the carpet of Primroses lining the towpath this year

In my opinion, there's nowt wrong with holding an echo of Past in Present, even if you don't know how to use it. I wouldn't know what to do with a medieval plough, but I'd still like one. 😂

I do have a Roman quern in the garden, that Dad dug up in Yorkshire - can't use that either, but I love it.🥰

It's lovely to see snowdrops, primroses and daffodils out in the hedgerows, even though it feels a bit early for daffodils to be out 🤔

There were also early primroses in the shade of a hill.

Morning dog walk.
The icy breeze and wintry drizzle stiffen my face as we walk.
A pair of chaffinches, a blackbird and a collared dove sit harmoniously on separate branches of the same small tree while a Great tit calls nearby.
Snowdrops, crocus and primroses bring spring to my neighbours garden.

Streptocarpus, also known as Cape Primroses, are indigenous shade lovers with soft flowers and rich colour. Ideal for bright, indirect light indoors or protected outdoor spaces 🌸

Primroses, pale and dirt-streaked as her pinched face. Her lower lip #quivers. "Buy a flower, sir?"
Few can resist her tears, but they #obsfuscate her true aim. As a gentleman hands her a penny, her fae partner steals gold from his pockets. Fairies and flower girls become lords and ladies. #vss365

Another early sighting, especially for this part of the world. My first Primroses of the year (F&C Canal, Kelvinside) Looks like a overwintering caterpillar's been having a wee nibble.

Yes it was a quick visit to garden centre because if I'd stayed any longer I'd have bought more, as you do. 2 x 12 freesia bulbs, white and pink; 7 mixed begonia tubers; 5 spicata liastris bulbs; bag of mixed dahlias; 8 bright fancy primroses; 2 alpines; 1 lime green leaved euphorbia; 1 succulent.
