White Shrew came out with a candle to light the way for the Northlanders. They’d soon be here and the days were getting darker. Shrew thought of the bright lights and feasting to come, warming with the thought in the chill winter wind.

Shrew saw the frost patches appearing and knew the Northland ones were nearly here. They filled their bag ready to bake treats for the feast.

Shrew needed some medicine for his grandmother but couldn’t find the right fungi. Thankfully, there are always helpers in the wild woods when you need them.

Thanks for all the messages if we are ok having seen Monmouth on the news.
We are ok, safe away up the hill
The town is flooded and most of our shops doctors etc are under water.
Feeling grateful but sorry for all the people who are out of their homes and all the small businesses under water

Nature notes: Arctic Lemmings are evolving to begin their Yule preparations before the mad rush starts. They can get a bit frenzied and run too fast to gather wreath materials later in the season, and we know the consequences of that!

Double calming tablets all week, music, chews etc etc and Lupin is still panicking. I fucking hate fireworks and wish they’d just ban them. I don’t understand how anyone can enjoy something when they know it causes so much distress to others.

Mouse pulled their cloak a little tighter. They paused a moment and caught the faintest of glimmers of the scent Winter drifting down from the Northlands.
It sent a little thrill of a shiver knowing that soon the ones from the Northlands will be here with lanterns berries and merriment.

Can we just give a big cheer for beech trees please? Whilst i think my fave tree is a birch, beech are just utter stalwart troopers.
Those zingy green leaves heralding in the spring and most wonderful golden autumn colours to dazzle us on our walks. Hats off to you Beech!
