Nonmagical ranged weapons include gunpowder-based firearms, which I really do want to include in this setting despite me continuously backtracking because it's ingrained in me that guns "don't feel fantasy enough".

There are various magical threats in this world (often easy to detect through magic sense), but I wanted there to also be an entirely nonmagical threat to the Souled, in a world where shapeshifting can cure almost all and souls grant immunity to all harm to the brain. This is what I came up with.
