I love a good movie montage, and while it's tough to beat the near self-parody "Push it to the Limit" montage in Scarface and the ultimate montage parody in Team America, is there anyone who isn't moved by the slow build-up montage of "The Streak" in Moneyball? Up there as an ultimate guy movie.

Moneyball was a canary in the coal mine and now it’s all over soccer analytics

not cool to say “this guy is a good goal scorer” it’s “this guy gets into goal scoring positions at a higher rate and thus has more lottery tickets to potentially turn into goals, which are then just a random outcome”

Moneyball, papel pequeño pero bien. Y en sus inicios la serie Everwood que me encantaba.

Wife: Only thing I can think of is the owners think Brandon Beane is the guy from Moneyball and he'll get it turned around sooner or later
Bills to retain GM Brandon Beane, per Jonathan Jones.

It's probably just me, but every time I see the name "Brandon Beane" I just think of Moneyball and Billy Beane.

I think it's called Moneyball to impress the kind of people who want to invest in sports.

As an aside, never understood why it’s called Moneyball. It’s Databall surely. Moneyball is what City do

And also that the variations on Moneyball are a magic bullet that will allow you to conquer any sport on the cheap when in reality, they're like Botox. A temporary effect that masks the fact that no matter what you do, you're getting older, and that City's budget, like time, will eventually prevail

I like the word "derail" for this.

Because if there's one thing moneyball elections, like 2016 and 2024, have taught us, it's that you only have to derail a dozen or so districts to take the whole cake.

You don't have to roll out a nationwide steal campaign.

The derailment can be surgical.

That list is always in flux, after a certain point, but the consistent (unranked) entries are usually:

Phone Booth
The Italian Job (2003)
Mission: Impossible 2
The Big Short
Moneyball
Bad Boys II
The Rock
Enemy of the State
Spy Game
Deja Vu

I would argue institutional reform in such a context has little to do with resource constraint; the _form_ of reform does. (The simplified version of the -- so-called, although perhaps erroneously so -- Moneyball solution.)

Guys, this review by Film Threat likened our indie movie to “Moneyball” and “Jerry McGuire” and “He Got Game” and “Blue Chips.”

I am stunned. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Guehi is on nearly VVD money at City. Not close to VVD in any category.
Wages dont typically go down. That makes him a bad fit for a 'moneyball' club like LFC.
Someone saw something in the data....

Honestly I think the Seattle Mariners fans have decided to just be happy to watch the game.

Unless Nintendo has an incredible 2026 selling Switch games digitally and moves to get a genius Japanese coach for the team, we will probably never see a World Series win.
