in theory it’s much easier for me to get work done when Bats is out of the apartment, except that when she’s out the cats are GLUED to me and it keeps me from actually doing anything because I feel guilty not giving them attention

It hits you right after the cockpit seals sigh and start to release, when the immersion fluid drains out and the neural hardline into the mech's core cuts out. Elastic band snapping back into shape, sensory recoil as the towering mech-body hardcuts to pilot-body, small and frail.
