Californians who project their weird left-nimby anxieties on NYC are generally pretty annoying but the implication that *Kathy Hochul* is a left-NIMBY is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while

I want to like the guy but he often comes across as a NIMBY. The insistence on local control, the resistance to states enacting pro-housing regulation. He seems to have a very narrow window of how housing can be built which is much closer to NIMBY than to someone trying to solve the housing crisis

I do think for housing, specifically, a lot of electeds have seen it as a pretty low-salience issue and been effectively hyper-NIMBY due to just a little pressure from just interest groups. Now that pro-housing forces are organized it's easy to push many of them in the right direction
