The FAA only closed airspace for 2 days after 9/11.

This, along with the fact that they didn't even inform the airlines or local government, is really, really disturbing

Airlines to Duffy: WTF is wrong with you people! You keep killing our business!

What did this cost?

* The people who planned to fly today

* The airlines

* The civil authorities trying to figure it out

* FAA staff

* Everyone's cortisol levels.
UPDATE: The FAA says never mind

Looks like it’s possible for multiple airlines, not just Delta
DID YOU KNOW?

If you have Delta Sky Miles, you can donate them to help a kidnapped-and-released person fly home!

They are set free on the streets of El Paso or another Texas town with no phone, no money, nothing at all. Your miles can get them back to their loved ones!

"The airlines were under the impression that the airspace closure was put into place out of an abundance of caution because the FAA could not predict where U.S. government drones might be flying. The drones have been operating outside of their normal flight paths."

Do not doubt that the airlines scheduled into El Paso are all screaming at the FAA over this right now. Messing around with airspace like this - esp with no notice - has ripple effects for flights nationwide.
