“God bless America,” Benito proclaims... to the finish, promptly naming Chile, Argentina, and all of South & Central America & the Caribbean before finishing with the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.“Seguimos aquí,” (“We’re still here”) he closes, spiking a football that says: “Together, we are America.”

Looks like it’s possible for multiple airlines, not just Delta
DID YOU KNOW?

If you have Delta Sky Miles, you can donate them to help a kidnapped-and-released person fly home!

They are set free on the streets of El Paso or another Texas town with no phone, no money, nothing at all. Your miles can get them back to their loved ones!

Starting in 2017 I volunteered to work election polls in my city after Matt Blaze commented that it was the single largest thing anyone can do to ensure safe and secure elections.

Cities are desperate for younger poll workers. I went from working the "in table" to district warden in one year.
as i keep saying, the things to do to secure elections are to volunteer to work the polls or to serve as an observer, & to pressure your *state representatives* to take steps to further secure voting locations and ballots. you should also learn about how election administration works in your area.

It's a long day, but incredibly rewarding. As a bonus, you become intimate with the details of how elections prevent voter fraud without requiring identification. It's incredibly effective and deceptively simple. Volunteer and learn.

Looking forward to this event. I’ve been to a few packed, overwhelming swaps recently but this usually attracts more of a low key, millennial crowd.

I need Chase Brexton to stop turning every single prescription into a fucking ordeal every month, 3 out of 4 of my care providers are prescribers and I’ve had issues with all of them and god forbid they align so instead I’m basically babysitting CVS and screaming at a phone tree on a weekly basis.

Props to The Banner for actually talking to the workers at Brewer's Art who just got screwed out of the pay they're owed for 2 weeks' work by the owners, and were fired with zero notice. Most stories about restaurant closures don't bother to do that. www.thebanner.com/culture/food...
The Brewer’s Art, a Mount Vernon mainstay, abruptly closes after 30 years
Owner Volker Stewart informed employees by text message Monday that he was closing effective immediately due to financial problems, according to screenshots shared with The Banner.

Hey folks get your faucets running/dripping etc. I am seeing so many posts in my neighborhood groups, texts from neighbors, and even my mom, about frozen pipes. If you have a crawlspace get a space heater in there if need be to keep things flowing. Temps stay below freezing through Monday. Ugh.

Everything was bringing me down yesterday so I put on my silly rain boots and went outside to make a little dent in the ice around my car, and a neighbor stopped and introduced herself, then another, and together we freed my car. Then met another neighbor who needed help with the same. It felt good.

Dems managed to get a 2-week delay on the DHS bill, so CALL YOUR SENATORS AND YOUR REPRESENTATIVE EVERY DAY FOR THE NEXT 14 DAYS. Tell them you want ICE, CBP and all the rest of it defunded and dismantled. Tell them you will be voting against anyone who doesn't do this. This is our chance.

I went downtown to meet a friend for coffee this morning and took the bus. It’s legitimately dangerous. Old folks are standing in the street to wait for the bus because the sidewalks are covered in ice. It’s not enough to just have the streets cleared. We deserve to be able to walk and bike safely
Hey Zohran would you like to be mayor of baltimore as well? we have some bike lanes that need plowing and also every crosswalk in the core has a 5 ft glacier preventing anyone who actually lives here from crossing the street because suburban motorists are more important than actual residents i guess

If the city used this emergency to make buses accessible and predictable, you could open a lot of people’s eyes to how nice taking the bus *can* be. Lots of cars aren’t moving until mid-week next week, and people probably need groceries, a real shovel, etc. Perfect bus errands!

personally i think "defender" is a better word than "protestor"

swarms of everyday people with whistles putting their bodies between ICE and their neighbors is not protesting. it's literally defense.

Hey if you have an empty house next door to you that’s for sale and the realtors haven’t made any effort to get the snow cleared from the stairs or sidewalk, maybe also check with them to see if they remembered to turn off the water/drip a pipe so YOUR basement doesn’t suddenly flood when it’s 18°F.
