I think we should really have a word in English (or use it more frequently if I am forgetting or am ignorant to an existing one) to describe the people who are either not your best friend but are more significant than regular friends, or are your co-best friends. There's a layer missing

This upsets me so much. (it isn't just space science either). The US under Trump is ceding its world leadership in just about every arena. But the space leadership personally bugs me the most, as I've been fascinated by it since I was kid.
Goddard spacecraft engineer: "I think it just kind of speaks to the atmosphere of the agency and the nation, where people are like, 'Well, laws don't matter for the people at the top anymore.'"
NASA is sinking its flagship science center during the government shutdown — and may be breaking the law in the process, critics say
"There is just a general acknowledgement that a lot of what is happening is illegal…"

What is happening at Goddard is absolutely devastating. We are losing history. We are losing an incredible amount of human talent, skill, and knowledge. Rebuilding it will be impossible same for same. Industry can not absorb the people or the equipment. This is undoing space science in the US.

look, I am only sort of complaining, Kittredge was fine, and yes we got a prospect for him last season, but it would've been nice to have some better bullpen options down the stretch last season. just feels so frustrating.

Bummed we aren't exercising the option on Mateo. I feel like that is a bargain to keep him around. I know he gets a bad rap sometimes. I think he is fast, his batting numbers when looked at in a nuanced way are pretty decent. Seems like it would be worth it to keep him around....
