Don't be too hard on yourself. I didn't figure out until the third one that I should be using all three sliders.

This seems less about being able to recall colours than being able to accurately build them with that paint tool. I didn't put my name in, so I don't know what I got, unfortunately.

He's doing great, but it was more talking about the 1977 #Bluejays and his memories of that inaugural season than it was about catching up what he's doing now.

Just put this week's new episode of Deep Left Field to bed - you're gonna love it!

My @thestar.com beat partner @gregorchisholm.bsky.social joins me to discuss what he's seen in his week at #Bluejays spring training & I talk #Jays history with inaugural season catcher Alan Ashby!

Hear it Thursday!

I like that these posts of mine get a few likes, but I’d rather you fill up the mailbag than like the skeet!
I’ll be recording this week’s new episode of Deep Left Field shortly and your #Bluejays thoughts a week into spring training are welcome at deepleftfield@thestar.ca - send me an email! Or two!

Might I humbly recommend Deep Left Field? Promise we’ll have a few members of Team Canada over the course of the next month.

Yup

Really nice to see this. Hopefully he gets a chance there and thrives.
Houston Astros signed free agent 1B Cavan Biggio to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Dropped a special episode of Deep Left Field today about #Bluejays trading Joey Loperfido to #Astros for Jesus Sanchez - check it out!

I misspoke at the end when I was wrapping it up, saying “always trade proven for potential” when I meant the opposite, but I said it correctly earlier, at least.

Absolutely. But to be fair, Astros fans are probably more than a little biased by Sanchez’ terrible two months.
February 13, 2026 at 7:52 PM
I wouldn’t think so. He’s not a kid.

Ross Atkins tells reporters in FLA (including our @gregorchisholm.bsky.social) #Bluejays still Lukes to be a big part of things. He and Sanchez could play at the same time if Barger plays 3B and Okamoto sits.

Kinda weird that they’re planning for Okamoto to not be a regular regular, though.
February 13, 2026 at 4:59 PM
Several options, but they don’t involve Varsho sitting for Sanchez. Barger could move back to 3B to allow both Lukes and Sanchez to play while Okamoto sits.
February 13, 2026 at 4:56 PM
I’m not sure I understand. You can’t have a 3-way platoon.
February 13, 2026 at 3:57 PM
He did. He’s a better defender and can make his way on base against lefties. Sanchez has more pop and is three years younger, but it’s the power and the track record that intrigue #Bluejays.
February 13, 2026 at 3:55 PM
I mean, seems like Lukes goes to the bench now, like he was going to had Santander been healthy.
February 13, 2026 at 3:47 PM
He could have. And he might with Houston. But he also could not have and Sanchez is a pretty proven commodity.
February 13, 2026 at 3:40 PM
Last line of the post you’re replying to.
February 13, 2026 at 3:39 PM
Agree with the first point, but Sánchez is a pretty regular high .700s/low .800s OPS vs RH. Trading potential for proven is never a bad idea.
February 13, 2026 at 3:39 PM
It’s too bad, I like JoePerfido a lot, but Sánchez has parts of six big-league season of hitting righties pretty well and I’d only two years older.
February 13, 2026 at 3:38 PM
#Bluejays got JoePerfido at the ‘24 deadline in the Kikuchi deal, #Astros got Sanchez at the ‘25 deadline for SP Ryan Gusto & 2 minor-leaguers.

We saw Loperfido’s potential last July, when he hit .358/.409/.508 in 30 games, but 4BB/23K.

Sanchez is a proven, solid platoon OF, but I’ll miss Joey.
