Get rich quick schemes aren't new, but the whole point of "middle class values" is to discourage and shame them as moral degeneracy.

What many perceive as a right-wing reaction on culture over the past ~5 years I think is better read as a revolt against middle class values.

Doesn’t forbid it, but requires >=1 per wall (and centered if only one). So the code requires them where they aren’t needed, and the designer doesn’t want to spend more to exceed code minimum. While in Europe (at least Germany), they set a minimum number per room, but let the designer choose where.
American electrical code forbids you from placing sockets left and right to a bed? What is the thought behind that rule? What problem is it trying to solve?
