Time for one of my handful of very unpopular opinions:

This exact scenario is why cryptocurrency exists, and why I don't take seriously claims that “crypto has no legitimate use cases”.
Friend tried to donate to my Throne, flagged by fraud detection at Bank of America — bank identified the transaction as specially for “giantess voretuber Ana Valens”

I suspect I faced those Patreon / Ko-fi dings b/c financial institutions have me, specifically, on record as a high risk recipient!

If I ever hear a computer tell me that I am “goated with the sauce” I will immediately incinerate every electronic device I own and lead the Butlerian Jihad myself.
yeah.

This Hassett guy does understand that I can't eat gasoline or a mortgage as part of my Thanksgiving dinner, right?
KARL: The president claims that Thanksgiving costs are down 25%. Does he know that's not true?

HASSETT: Well if you look at Walmart--

KARL: Wait a minute. I've gotta stop you. The Walmart package this year contains much less than the one last year. That's why the price is less.

Sounds a lot like the rationalizations for civil asset forfeiture. “You have a right to due process, but the money we confiscated as ‘evidence’ doesn't, so we'll press charges against the cash.”

Whenever you see a case name like “United States v. $100,000 in U.S. Currency”, that's what's going on.
Secret Boat Strike Memo Justifies Killings By Claiming the Target Is Drugs, Not People

In a memo promising legal immunity for those who kill alleged drug traffickers, the Trump administration floated an unusual legal theory.

The world’s first microprocessor is *NOT* from Intel.

But you won’t find it in many textbooks.

It was a secret only declassified in 1998; for good reason.

The Garrett AiResearch F14 Air Data Computer was 8x faster than the Intel 4004, and a year earlier!

I swear to God if Half-Life goddamn 3 comes out before GTA 6....
- Lambda key on the keyboard in all footage of the person playing Silksong
- “SOON(tm)” above a sticker starting with H that’s been censored
- Adam Savage’s Tested video on the Frame has “HOPIUM” with a C on the desk, as if it’s been swapped out

i wonder what valve’s trying to say :)

On a different note, a feature request for @bsky.app: if I'm in the middle of creating a post, would it be possible to automatically save a draft in case, say, my absolute moron of a phone decides “wow RyNo switched to a different app so let's immediately unload Bluesky from RAM lmao”?
The newly-announced Steam Frame allegedly runs SteamOS on ARM, and will support running games “standalone” (ARM emulation?), so there's some more hope on that front.

Yknow, what I love about English specifically is its messy MAXIMALISM. It's like a weird wonderful fashion friend with her closets full of vintage treasures, plus her new DIY designs, her upcycles, a skirt made of neckties, underwear as outerwear, and oh you like this kaftan? It's a *loanword.*

Some deal you negotiated lmao
My Democratic colleagues and I stand ready to negotiate a bipartisan deal that keeps the government open while lowering health care costs and extending the ACA tax credits. But Republicans must come to the table.

Best part of living in Reno: dozens of AYCE sushi joints, all with pretty good (or better) quality, and nearly all of 'em cost less than $40/person even with tip. And this one even throws in free sake (cheap sake, sure, but still sake).

A tale as old as time.
The Gracchi brothers attempted to address Roman poverty & inequality by pushing for reforms that would limit land ownership per individual. They were both murdered by senator/ultrarich mobs, and Rome would spend the next 100 years descending into corruption that led to Julius Caesar claiming power.

hi. axolotl here. i worked on Time Machine for many years. i know stuff about backup.

i don't care what you use for backup as long as you back up your data. 💜

- you can't have enough backups
- you need something off-site
- make sure your backups are good
- back up regularly
- go run a backup now
Always back up your data.

I went to open an important folder I keep on my desktop and realized it was gone.

I had simply shift-deleted it at some point in the past two days. Dunno how.

Logged into backup, pulled files back down, all is good.

ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR DATA.

Both of my state's senators continue to disappoint at every turn.
The Dems who voted yes to reopen didn't bend the knee because they thought it was best for Americans, they voted yes because their paymasters demanded it

This is why the Republicans really threatened to ground commercial flights

What a perfect example of everything wrong with the political system
