All of these bootlegged copies of the 60 Minutes segment flooding my feed (saying, ‘Watch it quick! Before it disappears!’) makes me feel like I’m in the Soviet Union and just got some black market foreign newspaper I need to hide under a floorboard in my house.

Hey Congress – make Alex Acosta's testimony public and televised. There's absolutely no ethical reason for it to be private and transcribed. Nefarious AF. We need to hear your questions. We want to see him squirm. We need to see him squirm.

Never before in U.S. history has one man exercised such unbridled discretion affecting the lives of so many, while simultaneously preventing others — Congress, the courts, the American people — from having a say or even knowing what he’s going to do next.

This is dictatorship.

Not gaslight them with your disgusting careerist normopathy.

There's clearly a lot of deep symbolism to the closure of Dupont Circle ahead of the WorldPride Parade, and it speaks to a much broader fight that is playing out: D.C.'s role as a local place with longtime residents versus its status of the nation's capital, a city for everyone.

This is no small thing, particularly for DC residents. As the story notes, much of our public space is federal property (beyond even home rule questions), and this is a sign of how easy they can unilaterally just shut it down.
