Apropos of absolutely nothing at all, it's worth remembering that fascism relies on us being afraid of the people who seek to impose it.

When we have the safety to speak out, making fascists look like fools is a marvelous use of our time.
Oh my god y'all I had not seen the rest of the Vanity Fair photos holy shit. Christopher Anderson deserves a medal.

Look at this. He left the LIGHT SWITCHES in the edited photos! These assholes look like their well-meaning mom took a picture of them on their first day in a grown-up job.

Should be most of the vote in now for Kentucky's #SD35 (Harris+5) special election:

Gary Clemons (D)- 72.6%
Calvin Leach (R)- 25.1%
Wendy Higdon (Libertarian)- 2.3%

It's an over 40 point overperformance from 2024 for the Democrats!

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything with a larger disconnect between the executive class and the general public than AI - there have been cases where executives want to push something they know is unpopular, but on AI it's like the backlash hasn't penetrated their bubble at all
What gets me about executives at movie/videogame studios being taken aback at consumer backlash to AI is that they seem genuinely surprised that we like the human beings that make the things that we like

Hard to come up with a compelling answer to the following question: With a president at 40% approval and his party very likely to lose the House in the next election, and with wind in its sails from a successful off-year cycle, why is the opposition party not fighting overreach harder?
oh for sure. I think you have to accept you can't win every election...which means really aggressively crushing fascism while you're in office with an eye on the truth that you aren't going to be in office forever, rather than counting on the next election to save you.

The campaign actually was worth 3-4 points everywhere where it was active! That's the upper end of what the literature thinks is possible.

It was a very good campaign, just an environment that couldn't be overcome.
yeah I refuse to rewrite this history. harris ran a _very_ tight campaign with a few (not zero!) missteps. trump was a total shitshow. the closing argument was literally a dead squirrel.

the media made it clear that debates are the most important thing ever. she disemboweled him. they didn't care.
I'm sorry, why are we retroactively acting like his campaign was particularly good in 2024? It was a shit show, it just didn't matter.

And much more. Read it.
