Borderlands (the first) is such a slow meandering slog. Any interesting points of the writing are completely buried.
The game really expects me to read a paragraph about the quest where you go into a place and get things from the place.
The art style is great! But the sequel does everything better

Honestly this is a pretty exemplary response to player feedback, with action taken just in the first days after launch.
I don't really know that much about game development, but I would hope that good QA would have caught... most of what they patched out today well before launch.
