Welcome new followers! When I’m not pitching tv shows, producing audio fiction (The Black Tapes; The Big Loop; Marvels; and 2 coming in 2025) or writing books (You Suck, Sir), I’m at home with my wife and dog cooking unhealthy but satisfying meals and drinking too much wine and bourbon.

In 2026 I will try to frame things not as regrets but lessons learned. So this morning I learned a lesson: don’t make chili cheese dogs for breakfast unless I want to stay home all day.

One of my favourite film moments from 2025 is in “Sentimental Value” where Stellan Skarsgård’s character gifts his very young grandson DVDs of “Irreversible” and “The Piano Teacher” for his birthday. I think I laughed for at least a minute straight.

However heartwarming, clever, historically fascinating, or technically advanced your AI slop post is, I will not watch it. I will not like it. I will not share it.

Our friends’ daughters are back from college during the break and they’re taking my wife out for dinner tonight. I could feel left out but I’m reminded they look up to her and think she’s cool and very likely respect her taste in men.

I’m not a betting person but if I did I’d bet Hudson Williams will get cast as Nightwing at some point.

He’s got the face card. And the butt.

like I think Mamdani's success helped a lot of people think differently about the first wave of 2028 presidential contenders trying to make a name for themselves. it's proof we can want better for ourselves than the Gavin Newsoms

As we reflect on the end of 2025 & what’s to come in 2026 I think the new year can be better—if we work for it. This time last year we knew we were fucked cause we knew he was coming back. Now we know we can fight back and we need to. There is no one to save us but us. May we save ourselves in 2026

The @theatlantic.com accused Canadians of "treachery" because Global TV aired the documentary on Trump's crimes.
Fascism doesn't just happen, it is made possible because of the complicity of the media and intellectual class.
Canada isn't treacherous. We have backbone.

My little girl has had diarrhea since Christmas morning and after 4 days of boiled chicken & rice she is finally recovering. I had no idea that a bit too much broccoli could upset some dog tummies. My two previous dogs never had an issue with broccoli but she suddenly does.

1/Robert Draper put years of working sources into this piece and it's a doozy. MTG trashes MAL face, but also genuinely seems to have had a road to Damascus moment re Trump and the news sources that fed many of her beliefs. ( She's still very anti trans though) www.nytimes.com/2025/12/29/m...

Asked my mom if she remembers buying me KISS’s “Destroyer” album when I was a kid.

Mom: “I hated buying it for you. I thought it was satanic.”

Me: “That’s so ridiculous.”

Mom: “Maybe that’s why you’re an atheist now.” (Followed by a maniacal laugh.)
