DHS/ICE sneaking to set up outpost on Oregon central coast

Sounds like DHS is quietly trying to take over the Coast Guard air facilities south of Newport. They've already moved the rescue helicopter 100 miles south, to North Bend (near Coos Bay), which is not good for future rescues near Newport.
Newport officials raise alarm about possible new ICE facility
Rumors have spread since last week that the Trump administration is planning an outpost on Oregon's central coast.

And it was an incredibly minor inconvenience, 10% of flights is pretty meaningless in the scheme of things. Everyone I know who flew yesterday had no problem!
Don't let it be lost how as soon as the Senators were personally inconvenienced by the shutdown (flight delays) they caved.
There was never any "fight" it was "so long as this doesn't impact me personally..."

Frankly, I'm surprised.
NEW: Colorado Sens Bennet (D) and Hickenlooper (D) oppose the plan to reopen the government without a deal to extend healthcare subsidies. #copolitics

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Any “deal” that ends with Dems just getting a pinky promise in return is a mistake.

The American people are suffering because Republicans refuse to stop healthcare costs from skyrocketing. An agreement that doesn’t fix that reality falls massively short.

One of the most interesting parts about this is the AG is arguing this was a private event which would restrict free speech.

All of my reporting indicates that it was not.

It was — by all accounts — a public event.

Coloradans on SNAP could get their November benefits in the next few days
That will come as welcome news to the 600,000 Coloradans, half of whom are children, who rely on SNAP funding to help buy groceries each month.

New — While some states have received SNAP benefits for November and USDA is supposedly pushing through all federal payments soon, that doesn’t erase the psychological terror of the last few weeks.

Oh, this is wild.

DOJ went to SCOTUS *before* we got the First Circuit's administrative stay denial. (We know this because DOJ just filed a letter at SCOTUS about the admin stay denial.)

So, DOJ went to SCOTUS b/c the First Circuit did not meet its less-than-seven-hour "deadline" for a ruling.

Dem gains in this week's elections erased the inroads Trump made with non-white, young, and low-income voters in 2024. In fact, the R-to-D shift from 24 to 25 is double Trump's gains from 20-24. Claims of a GOP political realignment have been highly exaggerated
