Because the executives don't make anything. They just tell other people to make it and then it gets made and they get praised for creative genius. The fact they're telling a computer to do it doesn't seem different and they can't understand why we care because they are so divorced from creativity.
What gets me about executives at movie/videogame studios being taken aback at consumer backlash to AI is that they seem genuinely surprised that we like the human beings that make the things that we like

Larian’s usage of genAI is by no means close to the worst I’ve heard of (not a defense-just saying) but if companies can learn one thing from this backlash, I hope it’s that nobody wants this and you will actually EARN goodwill (with gamers AND creatives) by outright banning genAI usage.

Choosing to focus, on hearing the news of Rob Reiner's passing, to remember this moment where he was so overcome with joy and laughter that he - the director of the movie - was one of many people banished from the set in order to finish filming.
TIL nearly all of the "Miracle Max" scene from Princess Bride was improvised by Billy Crystal, and it took three ten hour days to shoot, because they couldn't get through his improv without everyone (cast and crew) laughing so hard it ruined the audio.
