when i was a kid i was told that one of the good things about the apollo program was a lot of good inventions came out of it that made people's lives better. like the invention of diapers (invented to solve the pesky problem of how to prevent astronauts from ruining their spacesuits).

Also sometimes an amulet will be there and you’ll touch it and hear the echos of a distant land, a shore on a sunless sea, a place you’ve never been yet a place you’ve always been drawn to? What’s up with that? Why is that there?

this is a thousand times funnier if you read it in the voice of Uncle Colm from Derry Girls
if a parent of yours started blurting out sentences like this you’d call a doctor and take their drivers license away

I recall watching Roger Corman's Poe adaptations on late-night TV in rapt fascination as a child. Given that he was a legendary cheapskate who cut every possible corner, it's striking that I remember those movies as feeling impossibly luxurious, all draped satin fabrics & richly decorated interiors.
RIP Roger Corman
His Edgar Allan Poe cycle of cinematic adaptations were full of sensuous colours, striking compositions & game performances from the likes of Vincent Price.

The Israeli government:

1. Has multiple ceasefire deals largely because they refuse to agree to a permanent ceasefire

2. Use hostages as an excuse for their war

3. Attack and jail the hostage families who have protested

And many diaspora Jewish leaders and orgs back this.

Listen if someone starts a Bluesky account and says they’re a celebrity I have to believe them. How could they spell the name correctly if they were lying?

I just watched an autocorrect change my "These are SO good" to the perhaps slightly different "These are no good."

It's all going to end not with a bang but with a wimple.

I don't see how the framework associated with KOSA can meet the conditions Senator Wyden describes here. It would need to be an entirely different bill.
Some thoughts on KOSA...

Before I can support KOSA, the bill must not unnecessarily encourage services to censor discussion of sensitive topics like reproductive health or LGBTQ issues, or to stop offering privacy-protective features.

What I love about making art for fun is that it doesn't have to be good art. I think a lot of creative people fall prey to the idea that if something isn't perfect it was a waste of time. I think that the act of creating is just as important as what you create.

an unfortunate loophole in Objective Journalism is that if you respond to a direct question by just lying right to the interviewer's face, they're not allowed to say "yeah he lied to my face" even if they know you are

because that wouldn't be Objective, you see
