What amuses me (only slightly, obvs) about all this is that the US dumped massive cash into improving the port facilities at Narvik.
Because it's how you'd get troops/supplies to Sweden/Finland quickly without going via the Baltic.
Turns out it's useful in the other direction, too.

For balance, as I do spend a lot of time poo-pooing suggestions that this or that thing is meant as a Nazi allusion, I should point out here that I absolutely believe that this logo is meant as a Nazi allusion, it’s an open and shut case.
Ukip have submitted a new logo and slogan to the Electoral Commission, swapping the £ pound sterling symbol for a cross, that looks very much like it is modelled on the Iron Cross used by Prussia & Germany 1871-1918 and Hitler's Nazi regime from 1933-45

It occurs to me all the yelling at ICE in MPLS isn't merely funny. Getting made fun of like this is awful for morale. ICE is losing field officers faster than it can wave them through training, and a big part of it is how little of this these little weasels can take.

This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.
