this is the disability version of the trans bathroom debate: maybe we shouldn't let people just live their lives in the ways they need to because of this theoretical person who might someday take advantage that we just made up.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

Every trans person who is on a knife edge. On one side is employment for another day. On the other is whether a random transphobe posts "Ick, gross, trans person" with your picture and employer name, and it goes viral. You will get fired, from pretty much any company, if that happens to you.

Would just like to point out that Anna Waehre, the researcher here mentioned as guilty of grievous research ethics violations targeting trans minors was a panelist in a SEGM conference last year with a large number of other abuse apologists.
