Started playing D&D when my friend showed up at school one day with the wood-grain box set of D&D in 1974 or early 1975. The first set I owned (and still have) was fifth printing white box, 1975, significant because it was the last printing before Hobbits & Ents were renamed Halflings & Treants.

Started playing D&D when my friend showed up at school one day with the wood-grain box set of D&D in 1974 or early 1975. The first set I owned (and still have) was fifth printing white box, 1975, significant because it was the last printing before Hobbits & Ents were renamed Halflings & Treants.
I was struggling to articulate my horror over so many recent events, but this sums it up perfectly:
"the state can just summarily imprison someone without filing charges or holding a trial" doesn't just overturn democracy it overturns 1000 years of common law, like throwing out the entire legal system entirely and saying all people in America are the state's property.
They continue to violate a court order to retrieve someone they illegally deported.
We’re now well beyond a constitutional crisis. If they’re allowed to do this, their secret police can sweep up anyone, for any reason, deport them & refuse to bring them back.
That would be the end of democracy.

I explained it to several young teens today: imagine we wanted you to become more self-sufficient in the kitchen, so we decided to charge you $20 every time you got takeout. But also we have no food in the house, we won't let you go to the store, and also you don't know how to cook.
you have to be genuinely stupid as fuck to think american companies are going to respond to tariffs by building factories and moving manufacturing to the US. i don't know how else to say it. you have to be genuinely braindead

Today I retire from Wizards of the Coast after 28 years. With D&D’s 50th anniversary wrapping up and the revised rulebooks doing gangbusters, this is the perfect fairytale ending for me. I can’t wait to enjoy D&D purely as a fan again, knowing the game is in good hands. See you in the Feywild!
