The fits of anger that got Burke suspended and the outbursts and tantantrums of him and his siblings in court. It looks like people who can't cope with the real world because it's entirely unlike the stifling simplistic world that their parents created in their heads.
There's no way you could end up with a family like the Burkes in 21st century Ireland without homeschooling being involved. It messed them up in a very particular way that couldn't have happened if they mixed with others through the school system.
