but obv this was coming

1. good stuff to add/anecdotes?
2. what to advise the populace? Mine so far is "get components now, prices aren't going down for a while"

110% accurate observation
It goes into that weird thing that genuine appreciation is somehow considered less intellectual than criticism but everybody is getting trained to be such a cynical unfeeling asshole nowadays that I find the smartest people often are the “hell yeah cool song/drawing/story/video” people

When people sigh about “these communities are dying” what they fail to consider is that they are dying for very good reasons, including that the people who live there are doing their level best to kill their own community (and also other communities) every day.
Something notable in this article is how much the life long locals don’t seem to give a shit. Which was an entirely predictable outcome if you've spent any amount of time among people like this
How life changed in a rural town in Virginia that lost its sole health clinic after the passage of Trump’s megabill. The residents voted overwhelmingly for Trump in 2024, and now they’re suffering for it.

oh, you live in the core neighborhoods of your city? good luck buying toothpaste or deodorant on a whim ever again.
Still wild to me that companies got together and lied about a mass shoplifting epidemic and fundamentally changed things in all stores so that it’s worse for everyone, and then we found out they lied, and no one fucking did anything about it, and this is just life now

shouldn't a cancelled performer actually be cancelled before they come back
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

“No,” she said.

Can you even imagine how different the last few decades would be if Kissinger had faced literally any form of justice for his crimes.
