These guys should be shamed out of polite society. defending the president sending troops from one state to use “full force” on another state. My god. What oath did they take? Must not be the same one I took when I worked there

DOJ: CA NG is already federalized

Judge: You are an officer of the court. Do you think this is an appropriate way to deal with my order? Appropriate way of dealing with ruling you disagree with?

DOJ: Well, I'm not a policy maker

Judge: You're a lawyer

I didn’t make the connection to the Mangi vacancy. If you told me only 5 senators from this 100 (or the last) could stay, I would ask whether I have to use all five picks.
Responsibility for this lies with Jacky Rosen, Catherine Cortez Masto, Joe Manchin, and all the other cowards who bought into Republicans’ bogus attacks on Adeel Mangi (and with Chuck Schumer for not even trying a vote last December).
CONFIRMED, by a vote of 50 to 49: Emil Bove to be a U.S. Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit.

Emil Bove's confirmation was only possible because Democrats caved to a vile right-wing smear campaign of Adeel Mangi, who would have been the first Muslim appeals court judge, when Biden nominated him for the same seat last year. Absolutely disgraceful. Bove's confirmation is on them, too.
The Cowardice of Senate Democrats Made Emil Bove’s Confirmation Possible
Senate Democrats could have confirmed Biden nominee Adeel Mangi to the Third Circuit last year. They caved to a disgraceful right-wing smear campaign instead.

I think we’ve become too accommodating of people who claim to be on our side but remain in high-paid jobs with evil organizations that are actively aiding MAGA’s push to ruin the world.

I do not in fact believe your average Meta employee simply has to work there or they’ll starve on the street.
“That said, we must also admit that “I am going to change the bad organization from the inside” is often something that people wave around as a magic shield to protect themselves from accountability for their own evil jobs.”

This isn't a joke by some funny stand up. (A lot of Trumpy people excuse him this way.) Aaron is absolutely right, other Rs in government should have to answer about this.
Every Republican who goes on the Sunday shows tomorrow should be pressed to denounce this illegal and authoritarian proclamation from the president. And none of this "I didn't read the tweet" bullshit.

The senate bill deletes grad plus loans, without which I could not have gone to law school nor could most of my colleagues. And without income based repayment programs that have also been deleted (and replaced with some crappy version) we wouldn’t have the careers we have

Yes this seems like a five alarm fire for rule 23 and a speed run to the death of my practice but what do I know I’m just a class action lawyer
as a class action lawyer, the irony wasn't lost on me when people were saying last week that the decision isn't so bad because maybe class certification is a pathway to get broad injunctions. fat f-ing chance with this court
on top of that nonsense, Barrett plays in people's faces talmbout 'oh you can file class action lawsuits 😇'

she neglected to mention that the Court has been limiting class action lawsuits for years

it's not _nothing_ but it's certainly not an adequate substitute

Clinton is a goddamn nightmare but the fact that former presidents (and other prominent former Dem politicians) ROUTINELY stay quiet on absolute horrors being done by the administration because of decorum but will pop up to shut down progressives really gives up the whole game.
Pretty amazing that a former president will sit quietly as one of his successors orders US troops into American cities and ships innocent people off to concentration camps—but feels compelled to speak up when a fellow HR nightmare is at risk of losing to another member of the same party.

Superb backgrounder from an expert on Trump’s demand for “unconditional surrender” by Iran.
This is possibly the most disastrous thing Trump has tweeted. The demand for “unconditional surrender” from a country we are not yet at war with locks US policy in an unachievable dead end. I have FOUR chapters of my book devoted to that phase and how it prolonged WWII in Germany and Japan.

whatever i think of fetterman — which is, frankly, not much — i think primarying him would probably be a mercy at this point, because he is very clearly unwell, for reasons that aren't his fault, and he's unlikely to get better while serving as a senator.

- He hasn’t accepted that he’s a lame duck

- The process, whatever its outcome, is an extended news event that will inform and influence American voters

- It would give the Senate Democrats another chance to try making it a real trial of the facts

-It’s the only remedy the Constitution affords us
What would the point be of another Trump impeachment when he’s a lame duck and Rs won’t convict him?

Dems need an answer for the remnant of resistance people who are demanding impeachment but far more important for them to use normal Oversight powers effectively.
Schumer on CNN stops short of saying impeaching Trump would be a priority for Dems if they retake Congress

Remarkable that there’s not even a whisper of a legislative agenda from Trump, despite having control of both houses and a stranglehold on GOP. It’s a clear attempt to alter the constitutional order by making executive lawmaking a constitutional reality through institutional acquiescence.

all right, let’s go through this nonsense.

first of all, this is just a police state. that’s what he’s describing.

I don’t have anything clever to say. he wants cops to control your life, and aggressively and with “high impact”.
