That "intellectual diversity" and "free speech" were trojan horses for right-wing power-grabs has been obvious from the start and I remain disappointed how many supposedly rational folks took bad-faith actors at their word.

Just bc my stalker Bryan Betancur said he would kidnap, stab me 20 times, and rape me and post it all the Facebook, now he’s a criminal?? Just bc he gave my joke address to a bunch of Neo-Nazis, he’s a bad guy?? Wow. So much for the tolerant left. The J6ers are clearly tiny innocent babies!

“a better future isn’t possible” is explicitly a right wing view and everyone needs to do a better job rejecting it for themselves and drumming it out of younger people
IME every time I bring this up with young/young-ish people I get some variation on “lol I won’t live that long climate change will take me out before I’m 50” & it’s yet another example of how blackpilling throws sand in the gears of even trying to get anything done now.

I’m on tons and tons of blocklists and I’ve never called one out publicly. But I also don’t make my living based on trying to grow the biggest audience possible. When you see big accounts try to attack block list creators it’s worth taking a pause to consider their motivations.

Reactionaries literally don’t have the ability to plan strategically or to understand second and third order affects of their own actions which limits their ability to do some of the damage they would like to do. I just wish more people understood that and leveraged that especially now.

One of the mistakes that was made with the original Nazis was that throughout the last 80 years, they have been turned into supernatural beings by media and culture. It’s worse they are not. They are just humans doing evil things for incredibly banal reasons. This crew is no different.

The complaint about Bsky being an echo chamber ignores the reality that modern “conservative” views are 100% astroturfed by the wealthy. You cannot imagine the amount of money that went into influencers, YouTubers, podcasters, and even trolls this past decade. A masterpiece of public manipulation.
