I'm bookmarking this for the next time someone asks me exactly what does 'a structural edit' mean. This may be a screenplay not a novel, but it's an excellent example of the principles and process regardless.
Nine years ago Mike Fitzgerald wrote up an extraordinarily fascinating breakdown of the differences between the Tom Stoppard shooting script and the original Jeffrey Boam draft of Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.

It's well worth your time: www.creativescreenwriting.com/indiana-jone...

I made this book and you can read it now!

It's cool!

It's a raucous lesbian wild west adventure comedy with mechanical men and murder mysteries!

I do think it’s very funny that “[LLMs] also love groups of three, overtly parallel structure, and impersonal writing” describes the sentence itself that has been written.
Stop spreading this garbage about em dashes in ACTUAL EDITED PROSE OH MY GOD.

Plenty of actual human beings know how to type em dashes! We’re called “writers” and “editors” — maybe you’ve heard of us?

Me in 2017: Come on Hyrule, just kill Ganon so hard he doesn’t keep coming back. Skill issue
Me in 2025: Once again the slave power has risen to lay waste to the country, we must consult the great sages Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln in the hopes of sealing the evil

5yo: Why is the dragon in The Hobbit a bad guy?
Me: He killed a lot of people to steal their gold.
5yo; That’s really bad.
Me: Yeah.
5yo: I wish everybody in this world and in The Hobbit was nice.
Me: So do all who live to see such times…

I seem to be writing a free members and up Patreon post about writing about what I see in "Beginner" and "Intermediate" writing

It's about narrative control, and I'm going to try and talk about the time streams of fiction I attempted to teach at Viable Paradise 2024 (It's hard for me to explain)

Hi friends, I have a poem out in Haven Spec! Did you know there is a poetry form called a sapphic? (I got very excited about writing sapphic sapphics when I learned this.) This poem is a sapphic about witchy crows (also pretty sapphic subject matter tbh).

My weird little Ovid retelling—my most rejected story—is out today! This is a story about the queer, haunted margins of the canon. Or, in other words… a story about never being able to please your horrible dad until the day he eats himself alive and you learn how to turn into a bird.

The way it works is that you strip fundamental rights from targets with less political support that people will turn their consciences off to justify persecuting and then eventually the state can do it to anyone, that’s always been the plan bsky.app/profile/pbum...
Setting aside the incredibly dangerous and fascist aspect of this, is there actual evidence that Khalil was a “Hamas supporter”? Or is the standard for a green-card holder being sent to a secret location and possibly deported just “critical of Israel”?

I used to answer phones and log email and physical mail in a congressional office and can confirm

It's getting logged in the same system. What members and senior staff see is the total tally.

And the email inbox won't get "full" from non- constituents preventing you from getting your voice heard
Many say otherwise, but whenever I get a human being on the phone when I call my government reps, I ask if email has less impact than a phone call. They ALWAYS say it has the same impact and gets logged the same. Just a data point. Contact your reps, don't let perfect be the enemy of democracy.
