As if to prove the woman’s point, the coach hit a shallow hole in the road and rattled roughly across it, jostling everyone inside. Wren’s head bobbled loosely against Spencer’s shoulder with the motion of the carriage, but otherwise she didn’t stir. She must be exhausted, Spencer thought as his gaze traveled over her face. The dark fringe of her lashes against her cheeks, the sharp line of her jaw, and her angular nose were all softened by the halo of sleep. Her mouth was slightly open and a hint of saliva glistened at the corner of her lips. Beware the sharp and deadly Wren. She might gut you like a fish or, even worse, drool all over your best linen shirt, Spencer grinned to himself and peeked at the landscape gliding by through a crack in the curtains. A rolling, endless marsh spread out before him full of waving grasses, glinting water, and impossibly thin, impeccable white birds spearing fish with their needle-like beaks. The elevated roadway, reinforced with stones mixed with ash and lime, offered a clear, unobstructed view of the Great Fens for miles as it snaked alongside the river. It was beautiful, but monotonous after several hours on the road.

Like 95% of the times I used "might" it was in the sense of "it might be" kind of context. Which I know is fine. But I prefer the context of a mighty strength.

As Tycho dried off his fur, Drilltooth watched a look of guilt in his eyes. "What's wrong?" Tycho asked as he dried off his arm. "You're not in too much pain, are you?" Drilltooth asked, Tycho gave the squirrel a confused look. "I uh... scratched you a lot more than I usually do-" Tycho's ears perked up at that. "Oh!" He laughed a little. "Nah, I'm good." Tycho noted as he removed the towel from his arm, now with a small spot of blood in it. "Change must be both mental and physical. I have to get used to it anyhow." A skeptical look took over Drilltooth's face. "Why are we having these practice bouts? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good chance to stretch my legs for something other than delivering mail." Drilltooth questioned as he stretched. "But you? I thought you hated fighting?" The squirrel questioned, Tycho hummed as he took out a bundle of banana leaves, wrapping the cuts. "You don't remember?" He winced as the leaves glowed "To... be able to defend what I love. I don't plan on fighting alongside Sidra to prevent the Enlightening, but if it ever rolls into the places I call home." The banana leaf wrapping eventually began to lose its glow. "Then I need to be ready! I need to be prepared!" Tycho explained, Drilltooth snorted at that. "Gods, you sound like one of those old folks who mortals praise as heroes. They weren't actually always like they were written by the way." Drilltooth noted as he crossed his arms. "Besides, you can pretty much make anything you need from your leaves with your mind. Your concentration is what makes their weight, durability, and strength. Especially that special one." Drilltooth pointed to the one clinging tightly to his chest. "Divine Treasure doesn't break." Tycho put a hand over it. "Even so, being able to make something and knowing how to use them are two different things."

“Oh. That’s good,” I say, but sceptical warning bells start ringing in my head. I don’t have many options besides, though. I look to my side and see that Driona’s stride is incredibly complicated. Her two outer legs bent forward like a human’s, while the middle leg bent backwards. It looks awkward as hell, but have to pick up my own pace to keep up with Driona, so I may well be wrong there. “There is a problem with the situation, though,” Driona adds. Welp, there it is. “Problem?” I ask, becoming more and more concerned. The corridor only barely has enough room for the two of us, and I don’t think I can outrun her. I’m trapped. “See, this friend of mine, we’re not exactly on the best of terms right now… because I owe him some money from a failed venture. However, you might just be able to help with that.” Driona says this with a level of certainty in her voice that makes dread bubble up in my stomach. “What? How?” “Well, your mention of personally owned firearms amongst your people gave me an idea, compounded by you mentioning a certain level of constant warfare on your world.” “…yeah?”

“We are learning about temperature maps. We will study the change in temperature over time.” “The change in temperature? You mean how winter is cold and summer is hot? This is Kindergarten isn't it? How about we track the solar elevation and azimuth, or the movement of circumpolar and seasonal constellations over time? You know things that are not variable and inconsequential like daily temperature fluctuation,” I lower my hand. The looks I am getting now range from disbelief to pure confusion. I look from face to uncomprehending face. I might as well have been speaking Spanish. My gaze lands on Mel. Her face is not confused but amused. I am not sure if this is a good thing.

Remi inspected the door, squatted, and removed picks from within her right arm. A few moments later she pulled the handle with success. As the door swung open Einnar grabbed her hand and the door latch. Both held firm. He closed it and ushered Remi to back off. “Wait.” He sharply whispered and gently shoved her away. She curled a lip mid grimace. “Okay.” The experienced dropper leaned in to listen at the door. Einnar shushed her with a waived hand, unlatched the handle, and slowly pushed it open a tiny smidge at a time. The movement ceased when he spotted a hook and line at the corner above the doorway. “Slag.” He narrowed his eyes and motioned for her to hold the door handle. “Hold this, don’t move it. Not at all, you vibe?” A finger shot into her face. “I vibe geez. What is it?” He scoured the trash in the area, found a piece of metal, and polished it against his vest. “Probably a trap.” “A trap!” Remy flailed and squawked. “And you casually got me in the way of it?” Einnar seized her hand and the door latch. “No, I told you to stay still. Now move, I got this.” He looked at his left arm, the one with no power and released a disappointed tsk. Her eyebrows sailed as she returned her hand to the latch. “You were rudely saying?” Einnar smirked and accepted her help. He gently poked the polished metal sliver into the crack of the door. The makeshift mirror revealed enough of the room to cause him to slouch in dread. “Damn. It’s a claymore.” His head drooped in disappointment. Einnar retracted the mirror and tossed it aside. “Hold still.” He lapped the miniature property a second time.
