The world may reject for me this, but it's time I'm open about my pain over the word "love" (& even the concept) being taken in so many places to imply romance.
Here is my thoughtful rant, continued below in a page that mentions 1 of my stories.-🧵
What's a place that your character loves?
Do they feel loved back?

Rider loves the wild, really anywhere alone with trees & mountains. That's where he feels most at peace, & where he feels he's not intruding.
Lawcket loves his family's garden. It's where he spends much of his time weeding and caring for the plants so they bear well. - 1/2

Mostly I’m hurt because it was presumably about this snippet. It’s very painful to me that-1/?

The best way to tempt Lawcket is making him feel he's adding happiness to someone else's life, especially for family members even if he doesn't get along with them.
What tempts your character?
If you had to convince them to do something they didn't really want to do, like getting a dog to take a bath using cheese, what would you use?
Would it be cheese?

For Song, any good food.😂 The poor kid doesn't get enough to eat.😭
I don't think anything would tempt Rider in that way. I mean he'll do unpleasant things for his goals, which sometimes are getting food. But that's not temptation, it's necessity.

The orphan grumbled about all the stupid knots that he didn't even understand, and about how the horse wouldn't stop moving, as he worked to free himself.
At least he was making progress, and it would go faster once he was free.

I thought asking people to vote on who should get to be the antagonist, (since Lawcket's story doesn't really have an antag) would be cheating, so I did 3.
Anyone want to guess who they are. Pretty good hints in alt text.
(these are digital with a stupid mouse that won't draw straight)

Lawcket's not really either. He doesn't have a good concept of honor, but he cares more about kindness than results.
He won't hesitate to break rules to protect or show kindness to others, & doesn't look down on anyone for breaking rules.
He finds lying hard, but will- 1/?
Honor or results?
If it came down to it would your character choose to maintain their honor, or would they break their oath/promise/the rules to accomplish their goal?
How would they feel about it?

Does your character believe in The Power Of Love™️? If so, what do they believe are its limits?
Rider would gladly spit on honor. He believes it's a corruption used to control people.
That said, it wounds his heart in a way that will never heal, when he has to break his vow to live as "magic's servant" to help baby Furgo.
Though he has no honor, he's not motivated - 1/2

At first, Rider is motivated more by his desire to find freedom from his curse, freedom from humanity, yet he quickly comes to value the freedom of others above even his own, & that of course turns to love.

How motivated is/are your character(s) by love—romantic, familial, social (e.g. fame or approval), or otherwise?

I think Lawcket does believe in the the power of love.
At least he thinks love is the only thing that truly matters, therefor its power is the only power that matters.
Even in his failures, he clings to a belief that every creature can be healed by love.

Rider: "Power of love? Love isn't about power."😕
That sad "love heals all" is a direct quote from him . . . & then there's the snippet from Bound By Heart, which is more question than belief (Rider often can't bring himself to believe in creation) but it still says a lot about him.

The people in Lawcket's story don't actually have 7 day weeks, but I use the word anyways because it's a character novel.
“I told you, I was tied to a horse a week ago. And I don't feel like I'm riding well,” Lawcket said miserably, still looking at his hands.
Landroy smiled. . .
