In a long list of extraordinary things that have happened today, this strength of this statement by Andy Burnham's new movement is something else. A proper shot across the bows.

The fact that the one game made by an explicitly communist co-op game studio now has three successor studios making a self-proclaimed sequel to it, and dispute the legitimacy of the other two is, of course, the most communist outcome possible.

What makes 'The Last Of Us Part 2' work as a brilliant, bleak work of art is that it is the story of two grieving young adults self-destructive quests for revenge. And frankly the longer you stretch it out, not least given how long it takes HBO to *make* TV, the more it loses that power.

Craig Mazin has indicated a fourth season of The Last of Us is pretty much essential for the series, saying: "Hopefully, we’ll earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth. That’s the most likely outcome." https://bit.ly/3H1aiya

Funny, if I was a foreign intelligence office I’d be aiming to get Reform into power, pissing myself laughing that the UK was doing my job for me then working a one hour week
Have a think about what this actually means, and what this government appears to believe “subversion” is.

“So how did the care sector work before immigration?” Women did it. For free. Except now families can’t live well on one income and no one’s retiring at 55 on a fat pension, free to care for their parents, their husband’s parents, and their grandchildren. Undoing care-for-profit will be expensive

Sickening strategy. Would have hoped this not working at the locals would have stopped them pushing it but at least we can see it fail again as the care system is destroyed by it…
If you thought the PM’s speech was punchy, his foreword to the immigration white paper says high net migration has done “incalculable damage” to the country.

That is a serious shift in tone for a Labour government/party.

A question that I haven't heard a good answer to: if cutting migration by a third in a year hasn't changed the narrative on it at all - what would make you think cutting it by another third (or half] would?
Immigration fell by a third in the 9 months after General Election. (From 1.2m visas to 800k in year to March 2025). The new lower headline migration figure (the 12 months of 2024) will come out 10 days after the white paper. Saying net migration is 700k (last stat: year to June 2024) is out of date
