Why is there suddenly a bunch of people defending the last jedi? It has zero respect for everything that has happened in previous films (and the viewer), offers no payoff, kills off literally or in effect all the main bad guys, and directly caused the carcrash that was RoS. And the plot was stupid.

Was there ever an empire that just collapsed into itself wihout any outside pressure or economic hardship before today? A couple years ago, USA was THE superpower, a hegemon, now it says it's weaker than Russia, the country that famously couldn't defeat a country quarter its size. Interesting times.
