I am surrounded by people who are outsourcing their own thinking to ChatGPT and they are quickly and obviously becoming dependent on it for even the most banal tasks. Once again, the "figuring it out" is the important part. Yes, you can use a crane to lift weights but you will not get stronger

First Nation leaders are in Ottawa calling out Mark Carney's Bill C-5 attack on Indigenous rights.
C'mon Mark, is your first "nation-building" act to run roughshod through Indigenous territory for a pipeline?
People voted for you to be the anti-MAGA MAPLE.
Instead, you've stolen their playbook.

Talk to people irl, even smart people, and you'll quickly find that the vast majority do not know that AI makes things up, or plagiarizes, or destroys the environment. Knowing the things about AI we take as given here is like knowing internet memes; people who aren't Very Online tend to have no clue
I was in a doctor's office and the doctor looked something up to show me. I was stunned: He read the AI result. I told him I tend to scroll past and avoid the AI result Google shows first as it is not always accurate.

“What part of that is hard to grasp?” The part where I’m grieving. And this grief in particular has stuck around because it is so politically charged that I am often re-harmed when trying to process it openly. I refuse this gendered expectation that good men shouldn’t grieve inconvenient pain.
ya man this is what im talking about. the women you were around were pieces of shit transphobes. what part of that is hard to grasp
Feminists were my first introduction to gender. They helped me deprogram from the conservative family I was raised in. They constantly urged me to be my most authentic self. To be caring and responsible. And I believed them when they said all men are bad, so I repressed my manhood for decades.

'feminists dont want me to be a man' is always lowkey suspicious to me because it doesnt matter what feminists want. CISHETERO SOCIETY doesnt want us to be men lmao. your family doesnt want you to be a man! wtf do you mean feminists lol, theyre at the bottom of my concerns

I try my best to be a source of celebratory revolution. Being the change I want to see. Embodying my beliefs, one of which is radical empathy. And it breaks my heart every time when I respond to someone about their ideas with joy and enthusiasm and they can’t hear me, they take me in bad faith.

I think if a guy I was dating pulled out a life size doll of me during foreplay I’d make him have sex with it while I meticulously directed him about what I like. Sounds like fun actually. This guy missed out on a good goofy time!

Agreed. And unfortunately many feminist and leftist philosophies are hinged on a fixed idea of hegemonic masculinity being inherent and universal. The “yes all men” crowd are very threatened by a man who faces systemic sexism, who is embodying a celebratory masculinity with the power to heal manhood

I read the statement where Tristan said Jonathon pushed Tristan *out of the way* of the gun and that’s how he died.

It is a horrible thing regardless, but I think Tristan being a trans man is very noteworthy and it’s also noteworthy that it took me 24 hours to learn this information.

I love men. I love that manhood exists. I just got home from a baritone sectional for my gay choir and it filled my soul so completely. I love being a man singing about love with other men. The kind of love that bell hooks hoped for. I can’t defeat patriarchy, but I can be a loving man loving men.

"The fundamental fear trans people represent is that manhood isn't special, anyone can have it, and not everybody wants it."

Goddamn if that isn't an absolute glory of a sentence. The whole thread is beautiful, but that sentence? *chefkiss*
I think there's other stuff about wanting certain bodies available for sexual exploitation and child bearing/raising, but the fundamental fear trans people represent is that manhood isn't special, anyone can have it, and not everybody wants it.

Trans men represent the "anyone can have it" part.
I think a huge error that's often made in analysis of trans men's political situation is framing it as "the intersection of hatred towards trans people and hatred towards men" rather than "the trans version of hatred towards potential usurpers of hegemonic manhood"

I just finished this series and it was SO GOOD!!

I’ve long believed that confronting our grief is the most potent type of healing our society needs.

This story isn’t just about sex and death, but how free we can become when we give ourselves over to love.
‘DYING FOR SEX’ received 3 nominations at The Gothams: 2025 Television Awards
