insanely wild convo w ex-colleague who revealed my old org had been threatening her over some projects she was running allegedly bc she was encroaching on their turf. she was threatened as an outsider - the community might get angry with her work and burn the restored land if too angry.

so many bad arguments start bc ppl assume they can infer a lot of things abt an author's biography from the way they write & in my experience that's just not true - and these arguments get stupid and ugly when they run into this dissonance & ppl start trying to reconcile these disparate facts

What gets me is that fanfic/fanart creators have been talking about the subject of getting dogpiled, harassed, and pressured *for so many years now* about making dark/unsettling content, and let nobody listened to the canary in the coal mine because “stupid fandom drama”
alternatively we as a society could realize that fiction is about playing with dolls and that horrible things happening to them doesn't matter because it's all toys.

I think it would be fun if writers who love language started intentionally writing more strangely as AI flattens written "content" into a mono-voice. it would cool I think if writers responded by focusing their individual efforts on cultivating a really unique voice that's hard to copy
